And here are some pics that I just took a little while ago:

So, how am I doing?

You've definately put on size.

Its hard to tell how much fat you've gained, if any. That has got to be a good thing :)

No offense bro, but you have to realize that in order to change your body - it is going to take time. 7 weeks of initial training will do little for your composition because your nervous system adapts to the load you put on it, and most of the gains are not muscular but instead related to the nervous system aspect of it. You will just torture yourself trying to look for any small changes in such a short period of time. Train for a solid year, and then put your progress pics up, it will be a much more satisfying experience!

Did I say something to disagree with that?

i think he looks great. he's working hard, getting stronger and making improvemnt......... if you cant see it........ oh well.

and there is no point in waiting for a year to look at progress pictures. you have to have short term goals. and you can obviously see them........ so unless you just scrolled down and didnt take time to compare the two, then look again.

im proud of you bro.

you are a beast ALREADY

can't wait to see what some solid months of training will do

Thanks guys.

I don't notice any massive improvements yet, but that's not what I'm looking for. I realize that it takes time and dedication. Both of which, I'm willing to put into it.

I don't think I've gained any fat either. Hopefully, I'm losing some. I will test my maxes in two weeks when I go train with pwr_machine and bigguns (looking forward to that one big time). My goals are to be under 20% bf (I was 22.6), squat 250, bench 200, deadlift 315.

I'll be sure to post if I make those goals or not.

Not looking to be a bodybuilder. If I was, then I'd be using a bodybuilder routine. I could care less about having a six pack and beach muscles.

I'm training for strength. I want to be strong. Period.

I also realize that my body fat % is too high. So, I'm working on that. Notice that I didn't say that I'm trying to loose weight. I could also care less what I weigh. I just want to drop some body fat.

Eventually, I'd like to be as big as possible at around 15% body fat. If that means that I'm 350lbs, then so be it, as long as I'm strong.
...chad...

Oh and someone asked how much weight that I've gained. That makes me feel good because I haven't gained any.

I'm still right at 260 which is what I was when I started training. And if I looked like I've gain weight, then that means that I'm getting bigger without putting on fat. Hopefully, I'm actually losing some fat.

your whole reply was totally contradictive. you do care about looks but then you dont whatever. every other line contradicted the previous

Please explain how I was being contradictive. Because I don't see it.

Let me spell out my goals again. Maybe that will help.
I'm training to be a strength athelete. I want to be strong. I could care less about having abs or pretty biceps. One day I plan to compete in either Strongman or Powerlifting or both.

Now, at the same time, I recognize that my current level of body fat is a hindrance to those goals. Therefore, I want to reduce it.

Make sense?
...chad...

Hey man.

Remember who's on your side and remember who can REALLY help you.

Keep your concentration on the stragiht and narrow path.

Forget the jokers and clowns. (but not THE Joker47) :)

yes you make perfect sense.

yea...ignor the thread crappers. This training board has brought me alot of motivational support, but latley people have been really judgemental in negative ways. They know who they are.

i think you look good...........again......... i dont think your contradicting yourself............ but what do i know, im just a fat hasbeen wannabee that needs to hit the cardio and lay off the krispy kremes. i would take the advice of someone serious, someone with experence in fracturing the chicka's lumbar.

there are very clear and plane as day studies that show that the lower you keep your bodyfat the more likely it is you will gain more muscle than fat. i suggest you read some studies at t-mag. and being fat is not an excuse to slopply bulk up.

when you continue to bulk at a high fat percentage you will gain more fat than muscle. read up and good luck

Enlighten us on your studies. Is t-mag a scientific, refereed journal? You know, like ACSM's Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise or the NSCA's Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.

Yeah X.....you just don't even need to post anymore.............you just need to stop working out all together.....go away and eat your stinkin Krispy Kremes....:lmao:

X, you know I love ya, bro...........

sure its easy to gain mass and stay lean......... if you take "flintstones vitamins and Celltech"

but for those of us natural, its a little harder to keep those ever so popular 6 pack abs and gain a ton of size.

yes you can gain size and stay lean natural. but i dont think 5-10 lbs a year gain of lbm is worth keeping such a strict unhappy diet.

sure i may gain 5-15 lbs of fat after a years time, but i will have 15-25lbs of muscle to go with it.

just my opinion.......... but then again i dont have a subscription to t-mag though.

there is some progress made, but my one serious critique is you have a great frame that can hold lots of muscle, just sharpen up the diet a little and be patient

i suggest you read some studies at t-mag

:FRlol: :FRlol:

keep up the hard work cheesecake..your doin great man. gettin stronger every wk and thats what it's about.

Thanks LS.

I guess I could add that those second sets of pics were taken after I had done some serious Swaining. But that would be making excuses and I'm not about that at all.

I've still got a long way to go. But I'm working on it.
...chad...

Cool remember though work on the foundation. Diet is key not just to cut weight but to gain it as well. I do recommned some High intesity cardio, sprints or long distance sled drags 100m or so. this will kepp one mass, shed some fat and improve recovery ability. Recovering is half the batlle for growth and competition

I'm currently doing either sprints or truck pushes 1-2 times a week. I should probably up that to around 2-3 times.
...chad...

my opinion, i would keep it at 2 times..... just make sure you sprint on one day, and truck push on the next.

i would only recomend 3 times if you were trying to get in shape for a contest. since you dont have a contest insight yet, just hit it twice a week.

have your lifts went up ??
I just realized that I never answered this question.

The answer is yes. I've set PRs on my ME exercises every week.

I'll max in about two weeks and then let everyone know the results.
...chad...

I think its most noticible in your arms. take a look at your biceps before and after. theres more than noticible improvement. it looks like you gained at least an inch.

did you measure before and after? id be curious to know the numbers

how are your lifts doing

I see an improvement in the tops of the shoulders and also in the quads right above the knee. Keep it up and good luck!

That's funny that you say that because I hardly ever train biceps, maybe once or twice a week for 3x15 on hammer curls. I wonder if my arms are looking bigger because my triceps are growing?

Thanks man.

Shoulders and legs have always been weak points. Makes me feel good that they are improving.
