Doing my first show in a few weeks and wanted to know what you guys think is the best product for a tan on stage. I have heard jan tana can be hard to get even?? also when do you start putting it on? I got 2 bottles of jan tana for free from a gift bag at musclemag, but will buy better stuff if jan tana is no good. Thanks for your help!!

Thats what I first thought, but the sh*t is impossible to get right unless you've got someone who knows what thats putting it on you. I like the Dream Tan comes in a small nivea cream type jar and you just dip and smear-pat it on. Looks real even with a little time and anyone can figure how to use it.

Some promoters are not allowing Dream Tan due to the mess. I like it a lot though. Pro-tan is Way better than Jan Tana, It just does not wash off. IMHO.

My wife and I have found that the Jan Tana competition tan gives the best color on stage. It seems to be a bit of a darker shade ( for us anyway )on stage, and when 99% are using pro tan, it is an edge.
Also, it is hard to apply and especially to dry skin. The key is small amounts at a time applied in a circular motion. The first coat is very streaky, but by the third and fourth coats it looks very good.

You need to try it first because some people's body chemistry will turn it green when they sweat and that is not an edge at all.

Just my $02

Go for a few good sessions at the tanning beds to get a good base. The day before the show apply 3 coats or Pro Tan evenly spread out throughout the day. The next day if you feel you need another coat, do so. As long as it's at least 3 hours before the day show. Then switch to Dream Tan (by far the best product). Experiment with this to figure out the application process. 20-30 minutes before you go onstage give yourself a light and even coating with Pam cooking spray. DON"T RUB IT IN!!! Dream tan does not dry, and the Pam will Disperse nicely to give you a great sheen. Don't overdue it on the Pam eithor!
Good luck

I agree with trying different types. Personally the Jan Tana works great for me but that certainly doesn't make it the best. Just don't expreiment right before a show.

I prefer Pro-Tan. The Alcohol base stays longer when sweating under pump-up. Jan-Tana (IMHO) is a good base if you don't sweat.....I do, so I don't use it anymore. :D
