Preworkout and Postworkout meals

I am trying to trim up a little bit more and I have a couple questions regarding Preworkout and Postworkout meals.
1) My first meal is around and hour to an hour and a half before my workout; My question is should i take in whole foods for my protein (egg beaters etc) or should i stick with my current whey protein shake?
2) I have read that oatmeal is not a very good postworkout carb because i contradicts the fast absorbtion rate of whey protein. Is there any truth to this and if so what is a better alternative?

You want a slow digesting carb and protein source before your workout for energy levels. That being said do the following:
Pre Workout: Egg Beaters and Oatmeal
Post Workout: Whey Protein and Dextrose

After your weight workout you want to consume the fastest digesting protein and carb source available. Whey and Dextrose is what you want to spike insulin levels. The meal following your post workout meal should be another protein + carb meal.
