Post Workout Shake--Before or after cardio?

I usually do about 30 mins. of cardio after my full workout. I always bring a post workout shake with me. Should I drink it before or after I do my cardio?

definately after, the whole point to doing cardio after weight training is because you have depleted your glycogen. and when you start the cardio you start burning fat immediately. Now if you drank the shake before cardio, that would simply negate the whole effect.
Sure you would still loose fat, just not nearly as much

<<Don't my muscles need to be replenished after I workout so I don't start burning muscle?>>

A very good question, but not to fret. There is the "anabolic window of opportunity" in which it is best to consume a post-workout meal. This is different for everybody, but generally it is from immediate post-workout to about an hour and a half after workout (I've also read even up to 2 hours). So as long as you keep the post workout cardio within a reasonable amount of time (and 30 minutes is fine), then you're cool.

I suggest seperating your workout days and cardio days. This is not a good combo.
But if you can't split them, take your shake after the entire workout. The shake will replenish your muscles glycogen. You won't get any benefit from taking the shake before cardio except for robbing your body from the nutrition it needs to grow.

if he's donig cardio after weights then he should have a pre WORKOUT drink followed by a shake when he's done with the cardio. you're cardio won't be affected by the pre workout shake because chances are you'll burn all those carbs up during the wieghts part of your training while keeping good amount amino acids in your blood stream from the protein contained in your preworkout shake.

I agree with drinking a shake before w/o and another after entire w/o.

The pre-w/o shake should contain Creatine/Whey/ Glutamine/ complex carbs.

post w/o shakes:
1) right after w/o should be creatine/dextrose mix

2) 30min after dextrose shake drink a whey protein and water only shake.

Then go home and eat a good meal. Yes with complex carbs even if before going to bed.

Nature Boy: that's also a good idea.

I wish it were mine. I've read like very few threads about this here and I've gone to some other sites about pre workout nutrition. However it's very underrated compared to post workout. I do both, and I can't complain.
