Poliquin´s 6-1-6-1-6: Comments?

Didn't work very well for me.

I have a feeling the concept is sound but the way he lays it out is overtraining. I'm thinking of re-doing the program as a 7-day split (as opposed to the suggested 5 day split).

Thoughts?

don't know anything about it...please explain.

It's a program designed for both muscle size and strength (due to neural adaptation).

You work in waves. Do a 1RM BenchPress then do a 6RM (you should be stronger for the 6rm). Then do that again. YOu train antagonists (which is also supposed to potentiate the nervous system) and rest 2-3 mins between sets.

You'll find the complete article on t-mag.

Agree 100% with your comment. Got sore after each workout...too sore. Too much volume. I also didn´t get the promised ability to do 6 reps with a weight heavier that what I normally do to get 6 reps. Sounds great on paper, but didn´t work in practice for me. Kinda like the Kama Sutre.

Going back to the original power program I was using. "When striving to do better, oft we mar what´s well." Man, what didn´t Shakespeare know?

I figured you might agree..... it really did seem like too much.

If you ever re-do the program as a 7 day split, LMK, Aurelius.

Do a search for 1-6 on T-mag search engine, I dont' have the link handy, York.
