Police beating in Irvine CA

well, my view has changed slightly. A partial police report has been issued that was written before any of the officers knew there was a videotape admits that he punched the kid and said that the reason for the punch in the face is that the kid, while handcuffed, grabbed and squeezed the cop's testicles. If that is true, (it can't be seen on the video because of the camera's placement) then the punch WAS DEFINITELY warranted.

Now, let's all try to remember that this IS NOT a racial issue, but because this kid was black, this is national news. If this kid had been white, and in the same circumstances, this story would've barely even made the police log in the local newspaper, nevermind local news. Now we've got Al Sharpton and Johnnie Cochran, and they're going to turn this thing into a fucking circus.

If it's true that the kid grabbed the guy by his balls, he certianly deserved the whack...

the guy put up a fight that required 4 cops to subdue him and left at least one cop bloodied.

when the "slammer" cop tried to move him to the car, the guy pulled his legs up, forcing the cop to PICK UP the guy and put him on the hood. to do that with the care and tenderness you people seem to expect is not that easy. maybe he should have put a pillow on the trunk for the felon to rest his weary head upon.

when the guy was bent over, he grabbed the cop's balls. maybe he was just playing nice, I don't know. there are many on these boards more expert than I on the subject. but a reasonable man can see how such a thing might anger a bloodied and abused cop just a bit.

then why did that one officer lie on his police report? he would have gotten away with it to if it wasn't for that tape. Nothing like a fucking crooked cop. It's worse than a criminal IMO. And crooked cops should be treated worse than cirminals.

I don't know about the report, or what has been alleged -- but the failure of the media and politicians to release the entire tape should immediately raise suspicions about the incident.

I am certainly no fan of cops, but there has surely been a significant amount of political pressure to file some charges here, independent of justice or truth.

I doubt any man on this board would have acted differently in that situation - but if a couple of cops have to be destroyed for the greater good, to placate the people and avoid another rodney king or Cincinnatti riot, then maybe it is worth it, I don't know...

That's what everyone is so afraid of. I say that's the reason we have a National Guard. They should've just smoked everyone when the Rodney King riots broke out. I hope these people have enough sense not to convict innocent cops.
