Please Help a Beginner

I recently had to go on Paxil and gained about 30 pounds. I am about 5'6" 210 pounds and am in my mid-twenties. I do not look obese or anything I just have a pretty nice size gut, love handles and a slight double chin. I currently grapple about 3 times a week intensly and eat alot of poor foods (think greasy Chinese and Pizza all the time). I am planning a massive overhaul for a tourney including HIIT Sprint Intervals 3-4 times a week for Anaerobic capacity, 3-4 Muay Thai Pad Round 5 times a week, Grappling 5 times per week, 3 Days of a HIT style weight program and beginning a Cycl-Keto Diet.

My goals are to improve my strength and overall endurance for grappling and Mixed martial arts as well as getting a Men's Health Physique (for the ladies lol). I understand that this a big goal and will take time.

I am a total beginner in weight training so I hear I should make big gains to start and obviously would not be interested in Anabolics. However, I guess my question is how to approach losing weight on the Cyclo-Keto. Right now I would say I would be showing abs at about 155 or so. So that puts me about 55 pounds overweight. Should I begin without ECA supplementation or begin ECA right away? Would Clen be a faster way to get there without too much risk or side effects? Right now I am not sure how I feel about supplements or anabolic long term health implications. Please help guide me in the right direction.

Thank you,

Bro, don't even think about ECA... or any other diet aids. The first thing you need to learn to do is control your wanton carbs. I think you will find it much easier than you imagine. If you are eating really badly... a small amount of control is going to yield good gains (or losses in this case. :) )

Cut the carbs to a reasonable level and you should see a steady gradual improvement. There is no reason to try to do it overnight.

Other than that... sounds like you are doing a lot of good work.

Hop over to the diet board, get a good eating plan. Diet is the most important thing for you right now, your grappling workouts alone will probably lean you out a good bit with a great diet.

That being said, grappling, along with consistency, a good diet, and good training will work wonders on your body.

Congrats on realizing you need to make a change...now DO IT.

Ask your doctor to switch you to something else other than Paxil. There are lots of SRRIs that don't make you gain weight. I gained a lot of weight on Paxil but chalked it up to bad eating and a tendency to stress eat. Yeah, those both had a lot to do with it, but I have never gained as quickly as I did when on the Paxil. :(

I agree with everyone else: get your eating habits under control before you think about adding anything else.

its all about diet and cardio brother. check out the diet board and pick a diet for you, then bust ass! good luck man. we'll be here for ya if you have any questions.
