Pic of my 600lb dead

needsize

Elite Mentor
Platinum
here's the pic, the color looks a little strange as it came out dark from the scanner so I had to lighten it up.
Note I practice what I preach, no belt or wraps.
If anyone (b fold maybe) knows how to post a pic fullsize, not thumbnail I'd love to do that for non platinums

Thanks, I was happy with the 600 till I watched bfold nail 675, now I have to go heavier....
Considering I have gone for a max 2x now in the last 3 years I'm pretty happy, thank you 5x5...

so that's when you started lifting? 3 years? just a scrawny guy before that?

sort of interesting to find out how everyone here started, how/when/mistakes they made, shit like that.

I love it...love it...

Ingram you're right, I get more attention though when I bang out sets of 5 reps on 535lbs, but since those yuppie plates are plastic wrapped they don't make nearly enough noise.

vinylgroover, my hands are pretty much average size, I've just never used straps so I developed some great forearm strength

Cap'n, I've been lifting for 10 years, what I meant was that I never go for single maxes, don't like them.

Suston, the last pic was a 575. My goal is to hit at least the 700lbs I used to see Franco doing back in the day

Dude! Your head is gunna explode!!
heh.. just kidding man...
thats an unbelievable pull.. I hope I can say I pulled that much one day...
Thanks
Ryan

Once again Needsize - nice job, nice pic.

You keep raising the bar (literally) like this - and I'm going to have to come and hunt you down. Your making life hard for the rest of us.

:lmao:

Y_Lifter, you and me both.

Needsize, AWESOME lift, especially considering your bodyweight (you're only in the low 200's right?). Inspiring stuff.

keep putting up those numbers and you will be the canadian franco. ;)

Nope, too tall.

Good job needsize--you are one of the reasons I deadlift now. Thinking of going for 405 one of these days-not bad for a 160# natty bber right? All those plates just look cool!

holy shit, i want to be able to bend the bar like that one day too! hope 5x5 does that for me too

Thanks again guys

Haz, I was 215lbs when I hit that lift.

joncrane, that's a great lift for your bodyweight, it really is all proportional and that's almost 3x your bodyweight

no straps is a given in my book but belt is very impressive. So many people dependent on thos things, nice lift and nice gain needsize. World record in the 220s is 859 by the legendary Coan, hard to imagine that, eh?

I don't like depending on anything but myself, and my gains have been much better ever since I swore off everything but chalk. 859 eh, christ, if I ever do manage to pull that sort of weight safe bet I'll weight a boat load more than 220. But what the hell, I like to set my sights high....

Great lift! Do my eyes deceive me or are those hexagonal (or some other -agonal) plates? Wouldn't those suck for deadlifting for reps?

Right on both counts, they have a tendancy to roll to the flat spot when you set the bar down, doing 500+lbs for reps with the bar doing that is an adventure I don't really enjoy. That's what happens when your club caters to yuppies

damn im jealous! good work man...maybe i should adopt this 5 for 5 routine. is the 5 x 5 routine something like this??

for chest 3sets 5 reps flat bench incline 2 sets of 5 reps incline

for legs 5 sets 5 reps squats

for back 5 sets 5 reps deads

im kinda confused? because you would be leaving out lats and traps?

My old gym had the polygon shaped weights too, and you are right Needsize, they are a TOTAL BITCH when deadlifting. Frigging bastards move all over the place when you set them down. Who ever invented those things, did not have powerlifters and olympic lifters in mind. You must stick out like a sore thumb at your gym.
