Pec Tear?

First off, has anyone here had a partial pec tear?
I have pain in my left chest/ front delt area. I have had similar pain in the right arm for sometime so my left side had been picking up much of the weight while pressing, last saturday it gave out. I cant lift any weight w my left side. I saw a orthopedic doc but he doesnt seem to know shit. I gota wait another 10 days for an MRI. What do you guys think it is? I can do everything but chest, tris, and overhead movements.

You won't be able to tell anything until after the MRI - especially with a partial tear. Do you have any bruising or swelling in the armpit area? That may or may not be an indicator.

You really can't tell until the MRI. What amazes me is that there is a 10 day weight to get into a machine. In my little berg of 70k people each of the 3 hospitals has one, and there are at least 3 private MRI imaging places in town. Most of the time they can get you in either that day or the next at the latest.

10 days you lucky Bas**rd, in the uk I hade to wait 3.5months for an mri on a slipped disc. I wish I was in the USA mate. LOL

yep. it will be 2 weeks by the time I actually have the MRI done. what a joke. No brusing. Will this heal on its own if it is just a small tear?

Depends on how "small" small is, and if it involves the muscle, tendon, or bone.

Very small muscle tears usually can heal on their own. The rest generally require some sort of surgery.

The good news is by the look of your avi there is a lot of mass there. If you have to go for surgery, that will allow the Dr. to put in that many more layers of sutures. The bad news, is that same mass can more easily tear those sutures.

And yes, you need to tell the Dr if you use gear. Especially if you are going to have surgery.

i tore my pec back in 07, with in 4 hours i looked like i had gotten a lop sided boob job, the left side was twice the size of the right. With in 24 hours i had black and blue marks on the outter and inner pec. And with in 48 hours my whole left pec was black and purple. Went away after a few weeks. I was over sea's so i didnt get any theropy. I am just staying away from flat bench, dumbells only..

sometimes after the mri they can't tell. My MRI initially showed a slap tear. During the surgery the doc found out it was a torn rotator in the front of the shoulder and a lesion to the labrum (in back).

He asked me if i was using gear. I said no, its so obvious. Not to brag but im jacked, and when I took my shirt off it was apparent (my nips are so fucking puffy from this anadrol) its very embarressing. As soon as I stop my nips go back to normal. He thinks its a tear of the pec tendon where it joins the front delt.

my old training partner tore his pec doing incline negatives. he couldn't do any chest, shoulders or tris like you said. he had to take off like 6 weeks, but everything healed normally. he didn't have any bruising or anything, just lots of soreness. I tore my hammy a couple years ago, and the next day I couldn't bend my leg and had a bruise running from mid ham to upper calf, looked like someone hit me with a baseball bat. It sounds like you have a partial tear like he did. Either way, gonna have to take some time off.
