Painful intercourse due to lowered estrogen levels

Just thought that I would "share" with the ladies. I don't recall reading any posts about this and since it has affected me, I thought maybe it may have happened to other females on the board.

I had been experiencing occasional pain during intercourse with that last few lovers I have had. I had ended a VERY long term relationship last year and NEVER felt anything of the sort with him. But then again though he was more than adequate, he was average (we are talking about endowment). I am very small on the inside so even when I was with my longterm bf he could only be in just so far. If he would go any farther it would hurt.

Anyways, the men that I had been intimate with since my breakup were WELL ABOVE average. But I had only experienced pain with the last two and it was mostly during very vigorous doggy-style sex. But it would make me feel pain that was very much akin to BAD menstrual cramps.

Finally I broke down and saw my gyn because it had been suggested by an EXTREMELY TEENY-PEEPEED and (lousy lay) doc that I may have chlamydia when I again experienced this pain after some of the worst sex EVER.

Doc swabbed and said that he would be very surprized if the test came back positive. But he DID notice that I had symptoms that suggested very low estrogen levels. (I am completely honest w/this doc. I have known him for ten years and he has saved my life.) This is probably due partly because that is just how my body functions (I have always had irregular and scant periods.) and my light A/S use. He perscribed a topical estrogen cream and told me that it would not affect my bf% (I told him that I planned on competing soon.) as its effects were mainly local.

The other alternative to raise my estrogen levels a bit would have been to put me on the pill. I refused as he thought I would, as I use A/S.

Let you know how it works out.

Just thought that since this happened to me, it may have occured to other women.

PAINFUL SEX IS BAD....

MINDBLOWING SEX IS GOOD! :)

Gymbunny,
The first thing I thought of when you mentioned your symptoms was chlamydia. That is because pain on intercourse, of the nature (with thrusting) you described is the most obvious cause, especially in someone with muliple partners.
Why would your MD think it was low estrogen. Did he do any labs to confirm this? You seem young to be affected by low estrogen levels. If he thought that was the case it seems he would want to know why at your age you are having a low estrogen level. Did he prescribe an antiobiotic just in case it was chlamydia. Tests for chlamydia can be falsely negative.
Untreated chlamydia can lead to infertility so I just wanted to be sure you are getting the appropriate treatment.

Is it possible that the guys you were having doggy-style sex with were hitting your cervix? Doggystyle is a fairly deep penetration position and it would definitely cause pain if they hit you there. Since you mentioned that it didn't happen in other positions that was my thought...

I am not THAT young... but I am not over the hill yet either. :D

I am in my mid thirties.

I have always had very scant and irregular periods. It was funny, we used to call me a dog in heat as I would menstruate sometimes as infrequently as every 3/4 months. This was looong before any "supplementation". When I am on cycle I don't menstruate at all. I generally get a period when off. But this time it has not really been the case. I have not had a "real" period since September (finished EQ cycle in July). I then did a cycle of Deca. Have been off that since November.

He did perform a test for chlamydia. And my greatest concern is not infertility, it is PID (which I am aware leads can lead to infertility).

The diagnosis was vaginitis.

And yes, I assumed that it was the sexual position in conjunction with the size of my partner. And yes, it DID feel as if he was hitting my cervix which is very sensitive indeed. But the last man was so small it was as if he wasn't even there....

Anyway, I'll pick up the cream today. Sadly, I don't have any plans for anymore rollin' around any time soon though. :bawling:

Yeah, hitting the cervix was the first thing I thought of too. When that happens, it can feel to me like I've heard men describe being kicked in the balls feels - OUCH!

The other thing is that maybe you're not turned-on enough? I think I remember reading that the vagina undergoes a process to sorta lengthen to allow deeper penetration when you're aroused. I know I'm more likely to experience pain when I haven't had enough foreplay & my mind is maybe elsewhere. Fortunately that's a rare event though! :D

In any case, best of luck, I hope all turns out well!

Trust me when I tell you that if the wind hits me from the right direction - I GET OFF! Though I looooooove foreplay, all I need is a single, hazy, naughty thought and me panties are soaked. Nope - that ain't it.

I started using the cream last night; supposed to use it for 3 nights. It seems like I have a lifetime supply - LOL! But seeing as how I gots no game at the moment. :bawling: ....If I get lucky, I'll let you ladies know!
