I didn't know the details surrounding the movie, or that it was based on true events...or THOSE true events until I saw the movie. I thought it would be a traditional comedy and was looking forward to traditional poking fun at narcissism and superficial pursuits taken to the extreme where someone was kidnapped (I realized it was a kidnapping but I thought...I didn't think it was like THAT) not a friggin black comedy about actual psychopath murderers who barbecued bodyparts and such.
While I appreciate the attempt at dark comedy and I actually thought they did a good job at it because there were some funny points in the movie it just that I had a hard time laughing at some of this regardless. I guess I lost my sense of humor. I was conflicted the entire time. It is a good movie but not funny. It's not hilarious. The quick pump line is hilarious in the trailer and in my mind only, but it lost its humor and became sick in context it was surrounded in the movie.
