Personally his physique is one of the best I have seen ever, he was an anti-steroid guy as far as I know. My question is if you guys think you can get that definition and that big without taking a single shot or caps of roids? That would be the ideal body I would like to have and I don't take aas and I'm not planning to do any, thanks for the opinions.

there are guys in your gym who have used and/or are using steroids who look like they don't even lift. steroids aren't magic pills at all.

if guys like that are using, than my belief is with steroids so readily available and easy to get/cheap why wouldn't a guy like him use? the ONLY reasons you wouldn't are

1. religious reasons where you are ridiculously strict
2. you have a job that tests for steroids like working for the govt or a pilot etc. and losing your job is too important for you to risk it (pro athletes risk it but they are paid for performance)
3. you have some sort of anti-steroid belief where you really believe they are evil and anyone who uses them is evil. kind of like people who freak out when a politician gets caught getting a BJ.. "oh my gawd he got a BJ and my wife never gives me one, hence that person is bad!"
4. you live in a paranoid world where your wife searches your shit all the time and threatened to leave you if she caught you with them.
5. you actually think steroids are dangerous to use, addictive, and will kill you and shrink your dick, so you don't even think about using them. its like heroine, you are scared to touch it (yes people out there believe in this)

other than those 5 things I do not see how any athlete wouldn't use PED's

Even with abnormal genetics and dedicating all your life to bodybuilding (meaning 24/7, no side jobs, social life, family, etc) you would find it extremely difficult to become his size and shape

that is the problem with bodybuilding... you can become a slave to your own body. I can see it, I have semi experienced it. In order for me to not have this happen I know my stopping points with it all.

Steroids are no magic wand. You can develop an amazing physique with diet and training alone. Look at some of the best natural pro bodybuilders like Doug Miller. They look way better then a lot of gym rats who are juicing to the gills.

Genetics play a big part for sure but you can do a lot with diet and training alone.

The best thing you can do is just give your diet and training everything you have. You will become the best natural you possible. There is no way to try and look like someone else because everyone has different genetics.

It's irrelevant. Bodybuilding is about being the best that YOU can be. Sometimes, after years of training some people decide to use some and the smart one's don't over do it.

You most likely will not look like Steve with or without steroids. And Steve admitted that he did so much that he compromised his health. You already said you don't want to use any. So, what's the point of asking?

It's all trends. 20 years ago, people were talking about how you could look like Frank Zane with just the current supplement crop. Today, people would laugh, because Zane isn't big enough, or shredded enough, according to them. Lee Haney was considered massive. Now, he'd have trouble standing out, size wise. It's made me reevaluate how much of this "lifestyle" I want my kids participating in.

Even if he used steroids, I am absolutely sure that he has dedicated a lot of hours in the gym, and he has made a tremendous effort to achieve this sort of results. After all, without proper training and a very strict diet, even with steroids you will not achieve anything. Therefore, it does not matter, of he used PED's, or not - he worked to get into such a shape.

I've always looked at it as training, diet, and genetics are 80% of a competitive bodybuilder's results. The drugs add the remaining 20% which is what puts the most genetically gifted bodybuilders over the top and putting them on the Mr. O stage. If you took away everyone's drugs, I think most of the top guys would still be the top guys even though they would probably be closer to the size of Steve Reeves. Just my opinion.
