one hand pushups...

The other day I trained chest and it seems that I've lost some condition on doing pushups with one hand. I have no problem when performed with both hands. This exercise is part of a mandatory set of exercises I need for my fitness routine...
I would like to know what do you recommend for gradually recovering and gaining strenght to perform this exercise... what would you suggest?? :confused:
 
Perhaps your chest isn't the problem. Have you considered stabilizers such as the tris, lats, shoulders, and of course a tight core?
 
balance is key here... not only strength. one handers are also quite mental as well. I used to have trouble doing like 2... then one day I just said to myself "nothings gonna stop me" and I did 8. try it, it works, surprisingly enough.
 
Thank you! I hope it's the mental motivation I'm lacking :D otherwise I'll have to work on tris, lats and shoulders :(
 
Besides the obvious, which is to strengthen the muscles that perform the exercise, such as triceps, shoulders, lats, abs, and finally pecs, to get good at doing one handed pushups, you need to practice one handed pushups.

This does not need to be a core exercise, and they certainly should not be taken to failure all the time, but I would recommend doing them at least 2 times per week.

Do 3 or 4 sets stopping one rep short of total failure, but continually trying to increase the reps. Also, when doing bench work, throw in some dumbell presses. These will help build the stabilizers necessary for one handed pushups.

And If you can do dumbell presses on a stability ball, that will work wonders for the core stability and small stabilizers in the shoulder region that you need.
