Once and for ALL - FOOD

jkurz, I'd say experiment and see if another carb/proteinmeal after your PW shake and prior to bed put on too much BF. If so, just get protein only in you.

I've tried it both ways. Stop eating 2 hour before bed and also eating right before bed. Usually tuna on one slice of rye w/ hot sauce and some FF CC and fruit.

Why is this in the anabolic forum?

I train first thing in the morning so this doesn't apply to me. However, if I was forced to train in the evening shortly before bed I would DEFINITELY eat afterwards (even after the shake). I would not go overboard on the carbs though. For example, a decent sized steak, a spoon of flaxseed oil and some veggies would probably work nicely. If bulking I'd probably add some rice (say 40g). In my PWO shake I would have whey, glucose and oats.

I used to train at night, I'd have my shake like you do. Then an hour or so later, usally steak and baked potatoes, or baked french fries for slow carbs. When I'm just maintaining or dieting, it's usually chicken and rice. Oh, and I almost always have milk too, never had a problem with a few extra g's of sugar from lactose.

I have for the longest time trained before bed because that's the only time I could fit it in.

I will down my protein/simple carb shake post-workout, shower, then eat a bunch of protein and slow digesting carbs (big meal). If I simply consume protein then hit the sack that does not carry me over at all and I end up waking feeling very depleted in the morning. Another thing I experimented with is taking in protein/good fats before bed. This actually makes me hungrier when I wake up in the morning as though my stomache is eating itself.

My cut off time is 8:00pm since i don't sleep until after midnight.
Basically it boils down to your routine & what you have your body programmed to!

Because nobody seems to ever wanna go into the other forums is my guess. I put a question in the PCT thread and a whole day went by without one response to it and it was still on top.

What about PM protein shakes? I havn't tried any yet but I was thinking about it.
