Olympic Weightlifting – Its Value In Sports Training

i dont really see what the danger is on the OLs particularly on the (power) snatch. as long as your can approximate the form you see in videos, know not to slam the bar into your chin, and you know how to get out from under a failed snatch, it seems like you should be fine. sure you won't win any medals with approximate form, but it seems the benefits should still be there...

Just don't let ego dictate the weights you use and you'll be fine.

With Oly lifts lighter weights are best - I tend to lift in the 60-70% range. Any higher and the speed slows down too much, plus your form starts to get sloppy.

remeber form first, poundage will follow.

anyone can do high pulls - its a fairly safe move, and you'll get all of the same benefits. Just like squats and deadlifts it takes a certain type of person to do these moves :)

How old is young??? I am 23 years old now and have a good job and I can not risk the injury for that very reason so without someone to teach me the proper way I will not use them.

Olympic lifts shouldn't be ego lifts unless training for olympic competitions or sports. form and explosion should be the focal point. keep weight low. you'll know when you're doing to much.

cheers
