Can they do it??? In Oakland??? Those damn A's!

It's just that my boys are getting so oooold! The average age of the Yanks is like ... 102? And the A's are such whippersnappers.

I'm scared.

About damn time!!! I'm tired of the yankees... nelson laugh..ha ha!!!

"fuk the Yankees"??

I have read some misguided, almost sacreligious things on this board ... but that's just WRONG.

I feel your pain:bawling:, man, but we've had a long run. :)

It looks like we're done for a long time, too. Signing a singles-hitting, no-range shortstop to a $19 Million a year contract (Could have had A-Rod for $1-2 Mil a year more) and Bernie Williams to that 6 yr, $70M joke (could have had just about anyone else) pretty much seals their fate for the next 5-10 years. And Justice??????? Can't win when you can't score.

Steinbrenner puts a lot of weight in loyalty and payback, unfortunately that's a double-edged sword. He wanted to be loyal and pay those guys back for the past 4 years, but that dosen't really work in baseball; when you're washed up, you're washed up...

Hey, at least the Mariners won't get anywhere and the A's are probably gonna win it all; they are unreal this year.

That's true. I mean, better to lose to guys who are just freaks, who can't seem to lose right now. Sort of feels like the A's are unstoppable.

There are some eternal optimists who say: "look at '96! We lost the first 2 ALDS games at home, but took the next 3 on the road!"

But the A's are just ... too much.

::wiping away a tear::

(Of course, we did come back from that 97 malaise with that killer 98 season. Maybe we could be like that again?? But changes will have to be made.)

I'm a girl, btw. (I still have to say that after every 5th post. Someday....)

ZITO and that HUGE CURVE BALL are going to be hard to beat in game 3 at home. This guy has a curve that has made the Vets dive out of the box and the ball fell for a strike.
Rafael Palmero(sp) was laughing at himself and shaking his head when he went down on 3 stikes looking after he saw Zito for the first time.

Girl and a Yankee fan?
Where do you live? I've got a brother for you...
Someday... what?

I hear what you're saying about the comebacks and the Yanks have the experience and pitching that can shut out anyone for 3 straight games and have pulled off these comebacks, but without 1 run you just cannot win I fear...

And yes, the A's have that unstoppable feeling that the Yanks had back in '98 and '99
and you gotta like all their players except that bitch manager Howe.

"Someday" I'll get to stop reminding this board that I'm a girl! Word will get around or something.

I'm in Jersey. A train ride away from NY. Tell me about this bro!

as a die hard red sox fan i can't say i'm sad to see the yanks lose.

I'm a fag, btw. (I still have to say that after every 5th post. Someday....) :)

As a lifelong A's fan from NY I'm on cloud 9. I've been watching the games with my Yankee-fan friends and it's great seeing them squirm and make excuses.

To be honest, yes, they had a great run. But if I can't bring up the late 80's and the A's AL dominance, the Yankees fans shouldn't be able to mention anything about years past either.

If the A's do win it this year, that's 2 Championships since 1989 and 4 WS appearances. Half way to how many championships and equal to how many appearances the Yanks have since the same time :)

I am sad about the Yankees getting they asses kicked by the A's, but only because I'd rather watch former Yankee Lou Piniella and his M's kick their fucking asses here at Safeco in teh World Series!!!

Yo weapon they can not meet in the WS, they are in the same league.

damn its about time that a team has as good if not better starting pitching then the yankees. I put money on the A's twice and twice they came through for the nature boy.

As an Oakland native and Fair and Foul Weather Fan of all the citiies teams, all I can say is....
Bwahhhhhaahaaaaaa!

GOD BLESS Alameda Counta CA they need it.

The Yankees are pathetic pieces of shit. It is good to see them get their ass kicked.

The only time I have ever respected them is when Rocket chucked the bat at piazza, that was hilarious.

I dont even give a fuck about baseball to be honest. Go Ravens.

A Sox fan AND gay? You just bent over and got screwed every which way this year, huh?

Have you guys heard Giambi talking about how he'd love to be a Yank?? It would be sad to see Tino go, but the American League MVP on our side?? Please! Brian Cashman, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I mean, I'm usually the first one to say that it all comes down to pitching. But our offense REALLY needs a jolt.

Yuck the Fankees.

Ichiro wanted to be a Yank but the GM didn't think he would be worth the money, besides they already had all those great outfielders (Justice, Knobsuck, O'neill, Spencer, G. Williams); they dont have a legitimate clean-up hitter, and Bernie & Jeter are 2 of the most overrated players in the game today. They are not only done for this season, we wont be hearing from them much in October over the next few years. Steinbrenner might blow a gasket.

Okay, I'm going to explain "buksoon"

When my sister was a tiny little baby, my dad used to tuck her in. Each night, he'd say: "Don't worry, I'll be back soon."

One night he didn't, so she chirped: "Buksoon?" She had never spoken words other than "ma" and "da" before so he thought: "Holy shit! My daughter speaks Mandarin Chinese!"

Then he realized she asked "Back soon?" so the word has always meant love and family for me. All that mush. (See, really a girl.)

And when I signed onto these boards, I thought I'd only lurk (well, that sure lasted)... so it didn't matter what my handle was.
If I knew I was going to post so much, I'd never have went with something so, um, butch.

100% accurate. Sounds like a true Yankee fan:D

Yogi Berra said it: It ain't over 'til it's over!!!!

YEAH!!!! Here we come, Ichiro!
