lol 3-2 costa rica really are playing badly too, no excuse. Germany are looking good despite the scoreline (ignoring their defense who havn't got it together at all)

Which ones did you consider to be stunning? I don't know much about the sport but I enjoy watching the fast break one on ones like the first CR goal.

The 4th German one, absolute bullet from well outside the box with enough curl to take it from the centre of the goal to hit inside the side netting, unstoppable. They're saying the new footballs are making it harder for the goalkeepers as they allow for more movement.

And another from Germany again, can't remember which (2nd?), from the left corner of the box in off the far post, also unstoppable!
 
did you hear where they went out and measured the length of the grass hours before the game to make sure it was perfect for their home team?

A lot of hype by the way, the ball should be more accurate and precise, however, its not an overwhelmingly huge difference.

Crazy curve shots have been made since the start of soccer. I hope this BS doesnt subtract from the skill of the player.

If roberto carlos could make that insane boomerrang shot a few years back with the old ball, I wonder what he can do with this ball.

Somewhat suprising victory, however, its not absolute shock "OMGICANTBELIEVETHEYWON".

They did beat brazil and argentina in qualifying.

The pol's played well in the very early part of the game, then was dominated for a good while.

They came on strong when it was too late. Hitting the bars twice didnt help either.

Good game though, and if espinoza from equador played on the german defense today, it would have been 4-0 germany. ;)

I'm glad they won but it's annoying when they slow the game down. IC's move the ball much faster and that makes it more entertaining.
 
I took friday off and watched the first two games, I will have Monday off and watch the three on that day. This is great its like superbowl sunday everyday of the week. There is no comparison to this in the world of sports.

I was in the gym and only casaully could watch the game
and I could tell once arg
had a 2 goal advantage

Over now, serbs lost 1-0.

Games are on ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2.

And yes, the dutch looked real good out there today.
 
this afternoons game (Portugal/Angola) could get ugly if Angola goes down to many points, Angola might be looking to take some guys out. Bad blood, old colony shit you know. I will be watching.
 
I've not been impressed by any team so far

Argentina and Cote d'Ivoire look strong

Hopefully we'll have a Brasil/Argentina in final

The dutch looked decent.

Germany is decent, with a healthy ballack and a better D, they should be pretty good.

japan- aus...eh...an ok game. japs up 1-0 on a questionable call.

us- czech- should be a good one.

italy- ghana- lets see how well an injured italian team plays.
 
Questionable? It was a terrible non-call. The Japanese player totally blocked out the Aussie goalie like a basketball player fighting for a rebound, plus he threw a wicked elbow.

However the Aussie goalie seemed kind of weak because he didn't fight for position harder.

---Hey the Aussies just scored! Nice celebration too, the guy had a little boxing match with the corner post.

First ever WC goal for Australia!
 
With koller out and 45 minutes to go, even a tie would be a miracle.

The czech defense hasnt really allowed much.
