So basically, the muslims have a victory flag literally casting shadows over ground zero. And when is the mosque going to be dedicated? September 11, 2011, on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. Who voted for it? Manhattan liberals.

Ground Zero Mosque Overwhelmingly Approved By NYC Community Board: 'It's A Seed Of Peace' (VIDEO)

A community board in New York has voted to support a proposal to build a mosque in a building just a short walk away from "ground zero," the site of the devastating terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

After hours of contentious debate on Tuesday, the board voted 29-1 in favor of the proposal, with 10 members abstaining.

Critics of the plan say it is disrespectful to the victims of the attack to build a Muslim religious space so close to a site destroyed by Islamist extremists.

But supporters, including the Manhattan borough president, say it is important to show tolerance for all religious groups and that the space will encourage a moderate interpretation of Islam very different from the extremist views behind the attack.

The board's vote is only a recommendation, but is being seen as an indicator of community opinion.

The organization wishing to build the mosque must also obtain approval from the Landmarks Preservation committee, because the building it has bought and intends to modify was built in the 1850s and is under consideration to be classified as a "historic landmark."

The mosque will include a prayer hall as well as space for community activities.

If it does indeed get built (unlikely), I hope someone burns it down the day after.

Fly a plane into Austin IRS style. I know all about that since it happened right behind my apartments neighborhood.

but it makes hippies, socialists & liberals happpy. that's all that matters.

funny, they never would've done this on 2002. Tells you that "these do colors DO run". I told people this and they never believed me. I said "watch".

meh, the other side of the coin is that it is a big fuk you to the extremist
haters...not only will we take our pound of flesh in warfare, but we'll
show respect to those that flee your countries brutal governments and provide
them a beatiful mosque.
discuss?

Did Congress declare war against Islam?

Have you ever thought that there could be Muslims in this country who are patriotic and view this as an act of patriotism? If it were a Catholic church there would be no complaints even though they systematically rape little boys.

There are over a billion Muslims worldwide. If they were all trying to kill Americans we would be screwed. Also, we have that esablishment amendment in the Bill of Rights. There's not too much that could be done to stop it from a legal stand point. Use your own brain, not Glen Beck's because his is defective.

I understand why pitchers try to hit you in the nuts now. I would be pitching at your head b/c it sure couldn't make things much worse.
