I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Cynthia, I'm 22, married with 2 kids. I used to workout in high school and started back up in January. So far I've gone from a very tight size 13 to a size 9. My goal is to get in a 5. I would eventually love to compete in a fitness competition, maybe the Galaxy. I am going to school and am seriously considering going into nursing. I always go to a student nursing website forum and they started a thread for weight loss support. It really started to get on my nerves because I would try to give out sensible advice that would be ignored while people talked about weight watchers, Jenny Craig and even a grapefruit diet. So I had to find another board where people have similar ideas as me as to how to permanently lose "weight". Hope to get to know all of you.

Hi Cynthia! :)

I never got a chance to introduce myself either so I hope you don't mind if I chime on in. :D I am married and in my 30s and I have an 11yo, 7yo, and 4yo. I frequent other sites, but this is the only one that is inspiring and has lots of feisty members. I mean that in a good way! lol

I frequent a coupon site where there is a health and fitness board, too. There are lots of people there who are on fad diets or get gastric bypass and would not listen to sound health and fitness advice. I can totally relate to what you're saying, Cynthia....Unfortunately, too, I have been stalked by several people there so I am not able to post a picture here. Darn crazies! lol

Anyway, isn't this a great place? :)

Thanks for the welcome.

I think it's so sad how misinformed most people are. Just like how most women wouldn't touch a dumbbell with a 10 foot pole or they want to starve themself or do the lastest fad diet. And they then wonder why they gain all the weight back. I think a lot of it has to do with our culture. How they show these boney women in the magazines and on TV then you see an advertisement on how to lose 10 pounds this weekend. Then add all the bad food that people are around like fast food. Oh well, people will believe what they want and do what they want regardless of the facts.

Glad you joined us! One of the best features on the board is the search button. You can look up all kinds of great info through using it . I think the diet info on this board is the best because it is geared towards us girls and is right on. Give it a try.-Valerie

Elite is home to PRO figure/fitness and BB competitors, the Worlds Strongest Woman, Elite powerlifters, olympic lifters. People in the business of being lean and mean...not sitting back and wishing it would magically happen.
:) Well put! & Welcome, Cynthia.

I am one of the Olympic Lifters (just getting started learning the lifts) & am also an aerobics instructor. So I know VERY well how many people believe all sorts of crazy things! Just the other day I was chatting with a participant after aerobics class who, "Had been taking 4-6 classes per week & not seeing results (weight loss)."

I spent an hour chatting with her, setting her straight. She was thrilled & couldn't wait to go try fitday.com, add fat to her diet, hire a trainer to learn form & start lifting! She kept saying I saved her $600 b/c she was going to join Jenny Craig before our chat. ;) That makes my day!

-- oh, and the official world's strongest woman is Jill Mills - won the competiton in (I think) Zimbabwe. Nightfly trains for those types of competitions, Spatts does PL - Power lifting -> bench, squat, deadlift.
