Ive done it with my first cycle and decreased my BF by 21%. (I got fat cause I was hurt) I started the diet at 196 @ 33% and ended at 198 @ 12%. I'm 5'8'' and now I'm still holding 190 @ 12% or less.
The book I have explains how to find the right carb level, how much to eat, how to adjust the diet for your goals at the time etc. I found it to explain all the details I needed. I remember reading that he does not consider it a true *keto* diet. During the mass phase eating 4000-5000 cals a day I doubt any ketones would show up. I think it is more of balancing right at a very small level of ketosis, except during the cutting phase.
Gaining muscle, or mass gain is about 20-25 adjusted until you are gaining 2 pounds a week. Eat carbs until you feel yourself "
getting smooth" or laying down fat. That is the part I have trouble with so I am sticking to 3 grams per pound of body weight.
I really wish I could find these books in a bookstore rather than just online. I'm going to try one of these, although from what little I know about them, they seem very similar.
Don't bother getting the anabolic diet if you can get the anabolic solution.
I have both the anabolic solution and the metaboic diet.
Anabolic solution is for bodybuilders. Very good book.
Metabolic diet is an awesome book too but is geared more towards normal people who would like to make this a lifestyle.
Read both.
Better option IMO for ketogenic diet are:
Ketogenic diet - by lyle macdonald
Body opus - by dan duchaine
