Hows it goin'
Im 19, weighing 168 pounds and lift about 5 times a week. The only thing i don't know anything about is the diet. I basically eat normal food like, cereal in the morning, then slice of pizza, milk, 1apple, bag of chips, then protein shake after workout after that whatever is available for dinner. I know it isn't much food and its all junk food. I just need good advice on what to eat and how to eat well. I have been looking around on google for a while but just don't seem to get anything in my head.
One of the trainers at gym have told me to just eat meat, turkey and it will cut my fat cause its at 10% rite now and i want it to be 6%.
Any help would be great!
Thank you fellas

Thats trainer sounds like a Muscle and Fiction obsessed jackass. He didn't even mention how processed foods are LOADED with sodium, preservatives, ect. What a jackass!
You need to eat more solid foods, more often throughout the day. Complex carbs from oats, sweet potatoes, ect should be a staple of you diet. Read up on the glycemic index once you get your diet a little better. Don't worry abouut it now as you need to make other modifications to your diet.
Try to get lean meats, and do not eat a lot of processed meats. They do have protein, but also a lot of garbage you don't need if you want a low BF%. Real meats are something you need to get a lot of. Perfect time of the year for grilling too. Lean meats, tuna, fish, eggs can all count as a very good source of protein.
Veggies should be involved in every REAL meal, and serve for a good snack. They have antioxidants, fiber, and a plethora of other benefitial attributes to them. Aim for 5-6 whole meals to start, then eventually work your way up to 7-8. Use the protein shake as only 1 meal, and it can be a snack too.
Be careful with fruits, as they are oftern loaded with fructose. They are needed in your diet, but should not be consumed in mass quantities.
Allow yourself a cheat meal every few days to once a week. You aren't a bodybuilder leaning up for a contest, ENJOY your meals.
This sounds like a lot, and it is, but after a day or two you will be eating like a horse, as they have less fillers and fats that take the stomach more time to digest, so you are hungry quicker than with pizza, ect. Also, do cardio BEFORE breakfast. This helps to boost appetite, and I believe it allows you to burn fats slightly sooner than if you did it after breakfast.
As far as expert advice, as I am NOT an expert, there are good guys and girls on here that can also help with refining your diet further. I have just given you a set of basic guidelines to start a much healthier diet for you. Also there are books that can greatly help you. One thats seems very widely recommended is the Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. It has its own thread, and is supposed to be great. AS far as a great cookbook, Needto has an ebook that I haven't heard a bad thing about, only praises.
Good luck and hope this helps you!
