Alright fellas have a little problem. I have been doing Goodmornings for awhile now and consider them a staple of my workout. I just purchased the Westside tapes and plan to start the regime soon. My problem is with the bar wanting to slide when I do goodmornings., I have control of it that it will not slide onto my head, I would just prefer it to be more stable. Do any of you guys have this problem? I have heard people talk about the Manta-Ray. Would this be a good purchase for my problem. Perhaps I am going too far down on my goodmornings. I go parralell. I have read some sites that say go about 30 degrees. Which way do you guys go?

I have never had a problem with the bar sliding around on Good Mornings, but then I do not go to parallel on them either, I stay a bit above parallel. The manta ray would not be a good idea to fix your problem, I think, though, because the manta ray sets the bar high up on your traps, and for good mornings you want the bar set low.

Don't know if you already do this or not but keep your head up just like in squats and that will keep the bar movement to a minimum. I'm sure you probably already do that. I go just shy of parallel. Good luck

Thanks for the replys guys, and yes I do what you have suggested. The place I work out at is very hot and I do my goodmornings after my deadlifts. I do tend to sweat a bit and perhaps this is adding to it. Like I said it is not a big problem just noticed it as an inconveniance.

Make sure yoiu are placing the bar low on yiour traps . I have a good groove between my traps and rear delt that it fits perfectly in.Try to break the bar across your back and it should keep it in place by pulling on it. The manta ray can be used as another form of GM's but is not great for every time. I like to go parallel , i've seen others go below parallel and from what Dave Tate told me he only goes until his gut hits his thighs and then back up but some of us have bigger stomachs than others.

sorry to interupt the thread

BRAIN u don't go parallel on GM's, could this be the reason why I pulled a muscle in my lower back, OK I normally do them with straight legs than I go parallel. Is my form wrong on this?????? Can someone tell me with a pulled muscle how I should do them?????

Completely agree with this....if this doesnt work (and it will)...get some CHALK!!!

I love to train in my POWERMAG shirts. They are super thick and I can chalk up the shoulders on them...the bar just loves to stick to it...

They are hotter than a bucket of Boogie Night Balls...but at least the bar doesn't slide.
