i would say go at about 4000-4200 calories if you are prepared to eat a very "clean diet":
cottage cheese
egg whites (maybe a yolk)
almonds/peanuts/peanut butter
flax oil/olive oil/fish oil
chicken
lean red meat/beef
whole wheat stuff/pasta
protein shake
low GI cereal/beans
milk
if u stay strict, you can eat 4200 calories and expect good gains. I'm only 5'7" with an average metabolosm and I'm seeing great muscle gain from this. I just have to say strict on the diet, but it's easy because it includes some tasty foods, the only thing missing is sugar .
