Need Calories

Okay so I know many foods high in protein, and many foods high in carbs, but I think I need to get in more calories. I have IBS so unfortunately I cannot always eat 6-7 times a day, I pretty much get sick once a day. Yeah it sucks, but i work my way around it. I'm looking for foods/drinks that are high in calories and will help me gain weight. Right now im 21 yo, 6'0'', 175 lbs. I'm looking to gain around 15 pounds to start. I'm always doing the 5x5 linear progression workout. I think my biggest problem is diet though. Any good food advice, especially quick foods, is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys/girls.

What is your current diet? If possible list as each meal, time of meal & the portions of whatever you eat in each meal. Then you can put it into a food counts program like www.fitday.com -- that will give you the total cals & also the macronutrient breakdown, i.e. grams, % of proteins, fats & carbs. Then we can talk more specifically about what would be the best additions or modfications for your goals.

Calorie density rather than nutrient density is what you are looking for. Some foods that qualify....beef, peanut butter, etc. You can add heavy cream to your shakes for a quick calorie fix. For instance, 6 oz. of beef is about 48 gr. of protein and 360 calories, while the same chicken breast is 35 gr. of protein and about 185 calories.

you could easily add 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil a day and theres 120 to 240 extra calories and 28g of healthy fats. or add flax or udo's oil.

whole eggs are 80 calories, 6 to 7g protein and 5g fat.

peanut butter is 190 calories with something like 7g protein and 15g fat and 6g carbs (i could be wrong by 1 on a few of those). peanuts, 35 pieces is like 180 calories and a similar breakdown.

these are pretty much the same as already mentioned. they are whole foods. usually i choose something like this for added calories. with your ibs that could be a problem. hopefully someone can add better information but these could work if they dont bother you.
