NCAA picks for today.......

Oregon - 12

some info I dug up-----researched this game for a while, I really like Oregan

A not so impressiv win [26-17] over a not so impressive team [Virginia] at home is what Wisconsin brings into Autzen. Oregon boasts the best "O" out west [and one of the best backfields in the nation] and is carrying a 20-game win streak at home. Couple that with the revenge factor [Wisconsin's victory over Oregon last season], and the scale tips favorably to the Ducks'.
In capping this one, I've had a hard time figuring out what's more relative...Oregon's strengths or Wisconsin's weaknesses. As stated above, the Ducks' sport one of the best backfields in the nation. QB Harrington is a Heismann canditate who threw 20 TD's last year with a rating of 123. RB Morris topped the 1,000 yard mark last season and topped the 100 yards per game mark as well. Add transfer RB Onterrio Smith [from Tennessee], and the backfield is as explosive as Miami's, Florida's, or in-state rival Oregon State. WR Howry returns with his with his 700+ yards and senior TE Peelle returns too. The secondary is deep too. CB Bauman was all Pac-10 last year and is paired by CB Smith [a senior]. CB/FS Moore was ineligible last year, but is deemed an explosive threat. This secondary is clearly a top 10 unit.

Overrated. That's my opinion of Wisconsin from start to finish. In my opinion Wisky'll be lucky to eek out 7 wins. Anyway, RB star Bennett and his 160 yards per game opted for the NFL. CB Fletcher [Thorpe Award winner] is gone as well. What does that leave? 3 redshirt freshmen going for the TB/RB position, and CB Echols [5 picks last year] as the sole man in the way of Harrington and a 300+ yard day. Overall, Wisky returns only 5 starters on each side of the ball.

Wisky's win over UVA last week was very unconvincing. In fact, anything short of a rout of UVA [the game was at Camp Randall after all] wouldn't have been convincing. Freshmen RB Davis chalked up 147 yards and appears to be the leading candidate for 1st string RB. QB Sorgi filled in for the injured Bollinger [liver]. Sorgi completed 5 of 11 for 150 yards and tossed 2 TD's and 0 INT's. Sorgi is a solid QB...makes very few mistakes, but won't wow you [think Phil Simms]. Bollinger, however, may play and was an inconsistent 5 of 13 before going down. Again, not impressed with what Wisky did last week and don't know if Davis, Evans [who is a play maker at WR], and Sorgi will be able to match last weeks average performance at Autzen.

What to watch for in this one. (1) The Duck "D" up front. The "D" is top flight in the secondary. However, up-front and the LB's are what's keeping this team from being a national contender. Only DE McEwen saw action last year of the front 7. Speed, however, is alledgedly abound in the front 7 [similar to the UNC squad of 97']. Nonetheless, this will be Oregon's test today. (2) Youth factor. Sure, Sorgi or Bollinger have big game experience. After all this is a Big-10 team. However, how will the Freshmen RB's react to Autzen. Heck, how will the veteran QB's react to Autzen. Bottom line: Autzen will be a major fator all year long, and must be considered here. (3) Special Teams. The Ducks' sport a new P and K. In the first scrimage of the season, K Siegel was 2 only 5. P Arroyo is new as well. But, you think Oregon has ST woes...well, Wisky loses Ray Guy award winner Stemke is gone and K Pisetky is gone too. 2 sophomores take over. Ouch!

The Ducks' are solid. Autzen is a zoo on any given day, but will be a zoo full of rabid New York City subway rats on opening day when hosting a team that knocked them off last year. Bennett [that former Wisky RB] was the sole reason for Wisky's win last year [racking up TD runs of 83, 75, and 59]. Sorgi and Bollinger [mediocre QB's at best] will have their hands full with that amazing secondary all day and the noise pouring in on them from the Autzen faithful. I know the dog in Wisky games is 12-5 ATS and Wisky is a very impressive 13-1 as a road dog of 7+ points, but this is a mediocre team going up against a top 10 foe. Ducks' are 6-2 ATS verse the Big 10 and Wisky is 0-7 ATS against non-conference foes. There's simply just not enough anything ["O" or "D"] from Wisconsin. They'll look okay to good against the lower tier teams [Virginia], but will look poor to pathetic against the top flight squads. Oregon's top flight. Fill in the equation. Oh, and don't forget the revenger. Ducks' early and late.

Of course, my CSU rammies are gonna wipe the buffalos off the field today.....

Diiiiiiirrrrttttyyyyyy Hiiiiiiiiiippppppiiiiiieeeeesssss......

.....FUCKEM UP RAMS! (I'll be at the downtown Humperdinks to watch with all the other CSU alumni)

Proof that Crack is a drug problem in Pa......you are a product of your hood, Rizzo. Ya bastid, didn't invite me to the slaughter now did you?:D

Leaning towards:

Tennessee -15
Penn St. +14
LSU -21
Marshall +31 1/2
Iowa -27
Ball St. +20 1/2
Texas -35
Oregon -12

I'm not sure. I loked over it Thursday night briefly. I was going to go over it this morning, but Greg left the house early and took it with him:mad:

Hmmm, Wisconsin is 3-0 vs Oregon. Screw it, Wisco looked liked dog against Virginia, and Oregon is nuts at home. The only thing i'm worried about, is the damn points.

I'm just being optimistic about Penn State. The only reason they got as little as 14 points is out of respect for JoePa until it is seen just how bad they are gonna suck again this year. Realistically I see Penn State being beatin by a score of like 42-10. :(

I like Penn St. to cover in that game. Taliaferro is leading them onto the field and emotions will be high. I think Miami is getting too much hype.

be carefull

watch out on teh marshall game, i am sure you all know of the suspended players. but on teh other hand i dont think florida will be that good this year. So far i have taken teh following games today:

Mizzou -12.5
Oklahoma -18
texas -35
tenn -16.5
colorado st +4
Connecticut +50
Oklahoma State +13

I think penn state and duke might have good chances of covering tonight but am unsure so no bet for me. I also liked the michigan game but historically mich doesnt run up the score like the florida, tenn, miami, etc.

Later
Mitch

By the way for some crazy reason i like the dallas and tampa bay game, its a long shot but dallas pays great on the moneyline. Also if anyone uses on line sportbooks who are they i need a couple more so i can compare lines. thanks.

Result: Ruff day on both accounts. Hope you didn't lose to much money. ;)

some of you dont have a clue about football......first off who is gonna take penn st. just cause talli was walking out on the field??????? and oregon they suck, and always have..........teams to watch, are UCLA and Fresno ST.........I see some of the picks you guys went with and you are all horrible, in college football never go with the underdog, unless the points are gonna be impossible to cover.........it does happen upsets and not covered spreads, but I suggest getting in a pool that doesnt use point spreads and coverage........check out next weeks games and see what you think........espn.com, rankings section!!!!!!

Hey big man,
You have no room to talk unless you decide to shut up and post your picks BEFORE the games start, not a day after all the games are over. Were talkin about picking games versus the line, not some espn fantasy pick em pool.

hey thermometer up my ass, I never took or posted any picks, but I sure as hell wouldnt bet against miami, anyway Ill look at next weeks games and post the picks, and colorado and colorado state both suck!!!!!!

CN1, you sound like they typical jackass who knows nothing about the games until they are over. Its pretty fucking easy to call the game after the fact so shut the fuck up, grow some balls, and post your picks before talking shit.

I didn't take Penn St. just because Talli lead them out on the field.

I'm sure you were real big on Fresno St. before Sunday.

Never go with the underdog? LOL!!!

Pools without spreads? That's all good and fun around the office, but I don't see anyone getting rich off them week in and week out like some pro cappers do every weekend.

There's a reason vegas puts odds on the game. If not we'd all be rich.

I had a shitty week record wise last week, but I was only down 2 units when all was said in done. This week I'll post how many units I'm going with and see how it turns out. I made small plays on the majority of the games I lost. Had Oregon covered, I'd have been up. No big deal though, half the fun is the rush, win or lose.
