Nausea

I just finished deep squat day and I can't even down my protein shake. Any ideas on what to do about nausea after heavy squat or deadlift workouts?

Damn, I'm queasy!

I get the same thing, but unfortunately during the squat, so much that I have to stop before what I would concider muscle failure. I've only recently made myself work beyond pain (the good kind) to actual failure, but I usually have to stop because I am heaving up water I sip during workouts or just the dry heaving. Kinda embarrassing in the gym, most people are snobbish and just stare, not even the courtesy to grab me a bucket to see if I can continue. Normally its a run to the restroom with a slight watery trail that needs to be cleaned up.

Ive never heard of throwing up after squats. I may be wrong but it doen't sound like a good thing. May be doing something wrong.

If you're doing high-rep squats(15-20) and really working hard, it may be unavoidable. That said, not eating for two or three hours before lifting, and/or keeping the fat content of your pre-workout meal minimal *may* help.

I had the same problem last time I worked out legs, I damn near hurled I was feeling so nausseated. That's not a bad thing, its a good thing because you know you worked them hard. I thought it was from the creatine, but it was just a good workout.

actually, I workout at about 3 in the morning. My last meal was between 5:30 - 6 pm and I am in bed by 7/7:30. I work from 5am - 5pm, so the work/eat/sleep/workout schedules I do work for me. So the problem couldn't be pre-work meals, and I work legs once per week, but am now going to separate quad/hamstring days, but only hitting each one once per week. Heck, for some reason, I get the pukes from bicep workout also, but I think it is because I am concentrating on good form( upper arms down, back straight, knees slightly bent, slow cadence, *tight abdomials*) that I make myself get sick at the burn.

Yeah, when I am doing lower reps I don't get as light headed and nauseaus(sp). When I diet and do the higher rep squats and deads it's a battle with my stomach.

I think it may have something to do with my body aging as well. I'm not sure about that though. I'm having more lactic acid build-up as well.
