actually that's not a bad idea

I think every woman should know proper etiquette: How to act in public, how to make polite conversation, how to eat properly, how to keep a household etc.

:cold: I really hate the winter.

Actually, my husband, through his status as a Mohawk, holds dual citizenship and could claim like an acre of land up there on the reservation but ... shit I fucking hate the winter! I fantasize about moving to the beach and never having to see another snowflake as long as I live!

I hear you...winter can be long here

you've been to stepford haven't you? :worried:

lololololololol
no, i think the point of etiquette is to make other people feel comfortable around you, and it has nothing to do with reprogramming/zombie housewives LOL

and when women are brought up to value being educated, they can make conversation....polite or "not" isn't important, lol.

we've all seen conversational debates disintegrate into mud-slinging. being polite helps to prevent that. I think it is important to consider the other person's opinion before speaking/interrupting (being polite)

We need to regulate dihydrogen oxide as well. It's responsible for enough deaths as-is. Enough is enough!

I heard you can neutralize dihydrogen oxide with all-natural pot smoke though.

that shit reeks havoc on children!
I actually hate playing grammar police but for some reason that phrase has been popping up on the boards I frequent and it's one of my pet peeves:
Reek: have an element suggestive (of something); a strong odor.

Wreak: bring, cause to happen or to occur as a consequence.

I came back too late to follow up on the old topics. I think there is NOT enough research on vaccinations and autism. Why do we trust they followed up the right paths? If you're older than 35 like me, look at your shot record and compare to a small child's today. By 2 years old they have double or so of what I had as a kid and I didn't see kids dropping like flies all around me growing up. My friend is a molecular biologist and stopped immunizing her kids after the 1st showed signs of autism- all other kids are fine and no one is dropping like flies from catching this or that disease. What disease? Everyone ELSE is immunized so who are they going to catch it from? I have another friend who did the same thing. Has a son w/pretty sever autism. Had another son and put off immunizations and he's MORE than fine. There needs to be research comparing families that continue to have kids with autism who do or don't do immunizations. There needs to be research on kids in 3rd world countries who have far less immunizations, if any, and compare THEIR rates of autism against the U.S. rates. Japan's rates have supposedly gone down since revised their immunization schedules and amounts.

And on the note about toxins and our endocrine systems. I acquired Grave's disease (a type of hyperthyroidism) and I wondered if there was a link there and my son's autism. In other words, my body may have already been under the fritz due to Grave's when I was pregnant with him and I don't know if my pregnancy exams would have detetected it and so forth.

We just don't KNOW and just b/c we don't KNOW doesn't mean there isn't some type of link somehow between the toxins, immunizations, endocrine systems, autism etc etc... I sometimes wonder with all the hype on Autism why their isn't MORE research - in any direction. I can't help think there is suppression in researching links with immunizations b/c of the repercussions upon the industry. Thanks for that article, it said the resraction was that the MMR vaccine can't be linked to autism. That isn't my point. My view is ALL vaccines in general on the U.S. vaccination schedule may have an affect on our autism rates. I believe the article, but it's about the comprehensive effect of immunizations and the early schedule of adminstering them and in bundles and batches that I have in question. The article only retracted ONE aspect of immunizations, not ALL. Just b/c 1 bundle can't be proven to cause autism, doesn't mean the whole schedule of vaccinations isn't having an affect on kids that have the gene that runs amok.

This guy Karma bombed me. I'm new here, what do I do? What does it mean? Will I be unable to post b/c he doesn't like my wittle 'ole opinion? Wow, don't know whether to feel stronger that I can have such an effect on someone or feel how he wants me to, weak and of no count. How is it a bad opinion to say there just needs to be research in every angle regarding immunizations and Autism? I didn't know I had to have PHD in a topic to post on a topic.

I find this disturbing

just sayin'

I came back too late to follow up on the old topics. I think there is NOT enough research on vaccinations and autism.

It's been studied hard in recent years. Not only did they not find a connection, the authors who originally made the assertion have rescinded their claim.

Are you kidding me? Before you promote using these kids as research subjects to prove/disprove the hypotheses of the developed world, how about making sure they have first have equal access to clean drinking water, sanitation systems, and the life-saving vaccines that we take for granted. These children still die of polio, measles, tuberculosis, meningitis, whooping cough, etc. etc.
Give me a break. This sounds so ignorant.

Well, yes, those things too. But couldn't observations be done WHILE people are being helped if there is someone who has the time and means to do it? There of course could be many causes like malnutrition for a child's delayed mental development and I can see how it would be difficult to study, but if multitasking can be done w/o delaying or interrupting meeting the basic needs of children in developing countries, it could add to the data. (I grew up in a developing area btw.) I'm not suggesting they not be administered immunizations. I'm not against immunizations, just the way we do them in the U.S. may be questionable. I don't want to usurp the basic needs of suffering children, but eyes and ears are there, it would be interesting to know as the assumption is Autism is universal and has nothing to do with immunizations or immune systems run amok.

Please, don't just road block me and insult me, point me the way I should go to offer me some hope since everyone one here seems like a scientist with a PHD in everything. Show this feeble minded person where we SHOULD be looking. An army of parents all with the same strong hunch shouldn't be written off on every point regarding immunizations. We live with this everyday. I'm willing to go another direction to find the cause and cure if you have a suggestion.

My point wasn't really that malnutrition and other variables would affect the results, it was that the access to these vaccines could be life-saving to these children. The benefits outweigh the risks in their situation.
It would be unconscionable to use third-world children as guinea pigs for this research. because some would get the vaccines, and of course, some would not. Would you sign your child up for a study as part of the control group when you knew the other group was going to receive life-saving vaccinations?
I am not trying to insult you, and I am sorry for calling you ignorant.
I just got frustrated, because it seems so clear to me that vaccines can make the difference between life and death. There are so many naysayers who create malicious propaganda, thus influencing people's lives and their decisions to vaccinate their children.

I accept the apology and your frustration had you jumping to a lot of conclusions by what I meant. I merely meant data collection, as in how many kids are showing signs of Autism in other areas compared to ours and to document what vaccines they are taking, and by all means have them get what they can since what they can get available to them is barely the minimum.

It's just that when I look at my shot record when I was a child vs. what my children got recommended to get, it's shocking at how many shots are added. It looks like you're Canadian, again I'm talking about how we do this in the U.S. I'm going to try to find a website that lists and compares what each country recommends. You'll see that the U.S. is at the top of the list something like 36 vaccinations while other industrialized countries might only do 10 or 12.

Hepatitis B
Diptheria,Pertussis,Tetanus
Haemophilus Influenza B
Pneumococcal Menigitidis
Polio
Measles, Mumps, Rubella
Varicella
Hepatitis A

Those are the reccomended vaccinations for children in the United States. 14 diseases covered by 8 vaccines.

Once again, you're an idiot. I would ask you to please not have children, but you've already failed.

Maybe she gave him some "extra" ones...

Abby just got a round of shots today. She got four shots, two in each leg

awwwwwwww. I bet she was braver than I used to be.
when I was young I thought my paediatrician was really creepy. It was not easy to get me still for shots. lolol I was hysterical when we went there. Not sure why he scared me so much but I was sure he was evil.

Could it be because of the needles? :p

Could it be because of the needles? :p

LOL!!!
probably. even now I cannot look at needles going into skin. gives me the shivers. I can give blood if I don't look though.
although even for check-ups I freaked out with this doctor

somebody correct if I'm wrong, but isn't autism a "from birth" affliction? You don't get autism after you're born right?

Wow you remember your shots? I dont! poor thing you really must have been scared lol

Hey MM...
Good Thread...
Read Singularity Now, or the age of spiritual machines...

Good to see ya.

that's what I thought....so how actually are vaccinations associated with it? Not that I think vaccinations are benign, far from it and I think the future will bring that out...there's never a free lunch. But how does it cause autism?

There is not enough scientific proof to say that it does.

No no my mom told me about it
But I remember hating hating hating my doctor and getting hysterical every time I had to see him. He was East Indian and that freaked me out I think.
Come to think of it though I had an experience when I was about 4, involving falling face first onto an uncovered radiator pick and getting stitches right between my eyes which was rather frightening. My doctor took the stitches out, maybe that affected me.

Ouch! My doctor used to tickle me all the time I do remember that. He always gave us candy. lol. I use his son as Abby's doc! hahaha

BTW - she is crying nonstop. She even woke up crying, she never does that. She always does this the day after vaccinations. Exact repeat of her last round of shots. This is going to be fun! Its like her little legs hurt her or something. They are all hard and swollen, I've been giving her Tylenol (generic since the other stuff is recalled). I hate the day after vaccinations. blah. At least I dont have to do them again for another three months! And they wonder why I drug my feet to make the appt. Its like scheduling a bad day in your week, you just know its gonna suck but you know you have to do it at the same time lol

I'm an idiot for just quoting what a coworker told me who has an infant and she and her husband are trying to reach a compromise on what shots to give. She's the one who told me that the latest is going to be 36 (in the long run) for every recommended shot. Her mom's a nurse and she's highly sceptical of the immunization theory- but we talk candidly and openly about it- no cheap shots necessary.

Here are my kid's shots documented according to my child's age at the time:

Hepatitis B: newborn, 1yr =2
Diptheria,Pertussis,Tetanus: 2mo, 4mo, 7mo, 19mo, 4yr =5
Haemophilus Influenza B: 4mo, 13mo =2
Pneumococcal Menigitidis (Or Pneumococcal Conjugate): 2mo, 4mo, 7mo= 3
Polio: 2mo, 4mo, 7mo, 19mo = 4
Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 1yr, 4y= 2
Varicella : 2yr, 6yr =2
Hepatitis A: 2yr, 2 1/2 yr = 2
NOT included in Chris's list:
Hepatitis B: newborn, 1mo, 1yr =3
= TOTAL OF 25 (Not quite the 36 my coworker mentioned, but there's more to come for follow ups.)

I'm not so concerned with vaccinations after the brain has developed after 3 years of age- it's the impact of the reaction of the immune system on the body and the brain while the children are still infants that many of us still wanted explored.

I do believe the child has to have the GENE that gets triggered and becomes Autism so in that sense, yes they are born with it. But, there are varying degrees of Autism depending on what the damage was to the brain during development, whether invitro or after birth (the big debate).

In answer to Isn't Autism something they're born with? There are parents who have seen their normally developing child change (seemingly) after vaccinations. It could just be coincidence and nay sayers will say that. But, with so many testimonials to this, there is a (nonscientific) hunch that something is connected somehow, overall, and not pertaining to just certain vaccinations like MMR (the debunked theory).

Chris is counting each disease covered according to the type of vaccinations so he came up with 14. I'm counting total dosages= 25, 19 to 20 of which are within the first 3 years of life (major language and brain development time).

My unscientific hunch is that my child was born with a very sensitive immune system loaded with allergy issues and I'm wondering if the immunizations just took him over the edge and the symptom is Autism (inflammation of the brain theory as most have larger brains than normal people). It may be a stupid theory but when you have only hope to go by, we seek consolation in our wacky theories until we are offered some other explanation. My grandmother says she's never seen anyone like my son when she was growing up. (They may have just shut them away in asylums back then.) That's why I would like to see number comparisons of the more major and obvious forms of Autism country to country. I'm sort of callous to the inclusion of Asbergerians (high functioning Autism) because geeky people have been around since the beginning of time and it is obviously universal. It's the more severe forms like what my son has that I think have increased though the Autism societies include everyone on the spectrum and that's where they get the 1 in 150 numbers.(Hence the question- Are we just diagnosing better and including more people and that's what is driving up the ratio?) Kids like my son are probably more like 1 in 500+- but they don't tell you that, so breath easier. Hey, I'd take a geeky awkward Napoleon Dynamite nerd condition anyday for my son. I wish we could trade out conditions. I would not be as concerned if he simply had the nerd syndrome. Asbergerians can lead successful independent lives. My son will never drive, but may get a job. We will be his guardians for life.

Btw, I think Chris has Autism. He shows the classic signs of high functioning Asberger's Syndrome such as an ability or obsession for memorizing, remembering, and researching minute facts and figures (like stupid crimes in Asia) and very poor social skills. They're often blunt and rude and are more concerned with facts than human relationships. They don't have much of a social life so many turn to the internet to interact with people. (Or, he may be a hot stud in real life- got pics Chris? Know how to please a woman properly?)

Anyway, without them, our infrastructure would probably collapse b/c they are the engineers and scientists of the world which is ironic that science won't point us the direction where we should look for the causes and possible prevention or at least suppression of Autism- besides after the fact behavioral therapy. So, if Chris, you're so smart- please find the cause and cure. Yes Chris, I am stupid compared to you. Many Asbergerians are brilliant peopl, take Bill Gates for example, and now we have Chris.

jesus christ, can i get some cliff notes?

Wait, there's more! Here is my shot record when I was a kid. (Cliff Notes at the bottom.)

Hepatitis B
Diptheria,Pertussis,Tetanus: 1mo, 3mo, 16mo, 4yrs= 4
Haemophilus Influenza B
Pneumococcal Menigitidis
Polio: 1mo, 3mo, 5mo, 4yr, 6yr =5
Measles : 1yr , Mumps:10 yrs , Rubella: 1yr = 3
Varicella
Hepatitis A
NOT INCLUDED in Chris's list:
Small pox: 18 mo, 19mo

TOTAL up to 10yrs old: 14 TOTAL within 1st 3 years of life: 10

COMPARE to my child's: TOTAL : 25, TOTAL within 1s 3 years of life: 20

THE CLIFF NOTES:
In the U.S. the average kid ideally gets about 20 vaccinations by the time they're 3. In my day I got 10. This is why we feel there still is much to explore for connections between Autism, immunizations, and allergies. My son has a more severe form and that's what I want surveyed and compared country to country in terms of numbers. Chris may have Autism.

Hmmm... Your arguments are compelling. Maybe we should pour more money down a discredited scientific rathole instead of looking for the real cause of autism.

Let's call it the: "Do it for our children initiative."

Btw, I think Chris has Autism. He shows the classic signs of high functioning Asberger's Syndrome such as an ability or obsession for memorizing, remembering, and researching minute facts
(No, I went to and completed medical school.)

They don't have much of a social life.
(This is actually true, but you cant just sleep with the text book under your pillow and expect to learn all of this. I know you have no idea what I'm talking about, but don't fret.)

(Or, he may be a hot stud in real life- got pics Chris? Know how to please a woman properly?)
(I'm way out of your league.)

I broke it down for you step by step above.

Perhaps this does not disturb you, you hail the new advances in food technology and breakthroughs as achievements that can only enhance human life. From my perspective, our bodies evolved utilizing certain elements found in certain expected molecular forms, and evolving to utilize other molecules is something that takes thousands, if not, more years. The idea of consuming, particularly unknowingly, something that is actually small enough to cross the blood/brain barrier is really, really disturbing. The fact the FDA busts down on herbs, which have been around since time began, but turns a blind eye to this development smacks of everything from cronyism to conspiracy.

And before you ask, no, I don't like GMO foods, either. Hybridization I have no problem with, that at least doesn't introduce unnatural DNA (or screw with our DNA). I'm sorry, why is it like over 95% of industrialized nations won't have anything to do with fluoride, GMOs and now nanotech foods, and yet America, we'll swallow anything they shove at us? Maybe that's why people are so damn fat?

If you think something tiny can't possible hurt you, pay particular attention to the first article. Asbestos fibers are small, too, you feel like snorting a microgram of that a day? Viruses, those are small, too. Food is hugely important to a lot of us, in a weird way more so than the average person, and supplements another, it's just something to consider. From my perspective, something that is so molecularly small that our bodies are incapable of detoxifying it, is horrifying. For the readers among you, that's how a lot of Robin Cook novels start out, ain't it?

Shows what a farce the government has become. While other countries' gov's are banning aspartame (you know, because there's at least a shred of concern for its populous), ours probably somehow gets a cut out of everything sold that uses it, which is more important to them. So it's cool of course.

oh no, don't you dare impugn aspartame lest you draw the wrath of plunkey. Surely some innocuous little sweetener cannot be bad for us....it's a stalwart of our economy!!

I've invoked the ultimate insult to aspartame -- I don't buy it. That's the inherent genius of capitalism that libtards don't seem to get.

I'm sure you use an all-natural, zero carbon footprint, organic, conflict-free, locally-grown, fair-traded sweetner anyway. You'll be a life-long sucker for that authentic horseshit.

Right up there with fluoride and GMOs.

I'm coming up on 7 years in neurology transcription, I've worked for headache centers. One of the FIRST things a doctor asks a migraine sufferer is if they drink diet beverages or a lot of tea or coffee, and I've done reports on people that got rid of debilitating migraines just by quitting diet sodas.

I'm sure you use an all-natural, zero carbon footprint, organic, conflict-free, locally-grown, fair-traded sweetner anyway. You'll be a life-long sucker for that authentic horseshit.

actually I just use honey

ha! douchebag.

you should battle on MTV raps with that game. That was your thinnest offering yet. Like precum only without the payoff. Like a vasectomized ejaculate...HA!:)

I do not share your vast expertise in semen types and textures.

(you did go homo again with your hyperbole... Just sayin')

This is fuckin creepy rob

:lmao:

I have to admit I'm running out of adjectives for his weak game. If I didn't know better there were times i would swear I"m being told off by a middle schooler. You have to remind yourself you're conversing with a grey haired old man.

I can't help but think he stores samples from his homosexual conquests in little bottles hidden behind his medicine cabinet.

The poor johns probably just think he's jumping out of bed after oral sex to brush his teeth.

Great. Now I've grossed myself out.

I've been embarassing you for a long time. This wasn't the first and won't be the last.

well than I guess we're embarrassed for each other....whatever this is stupid talking to someone who's regressing to the intellectual acuity level of a middle schooler. I won't be surprised if the "yo mama" insults start getting hurled here soon. You'd think a man pushing 60.......ahhh nevermind it's pointless.

Yeah, I'm picturing you pacing in front of your computer fresh-out of things to say.

It's quite entertaining.

At least his pacing feels super spectacular with teh new rubber shoes. Allowing 87% more pacing capability.

yep, definitely pacing. Well actually no but if it makes you feel better...feel free while you're double fisting a bag of cheetohs and rewinding your weekly jerry highlights. I hear this coming week is going to be awesome.....well no I haven't as I don't pay attention to rubbish but I can imagine to a fan/junkie every week is like christmas isn't it? You can characterize me doing this or that all you want.....you're still spending a decent chunk of your week watching Jerry Springer, there's not more for me to say.

This is so much better than springer.

You got a little creepy when you went off on semen types and textures, but if you'll stick to the garden-variety goofy stuff you're quite entertaining.

bump for "I know you are, but what am I" reply

Don't you mean: "I... "know" you is... "irregarless" of "all-natural"... pot... "smoke"... because "greedy" corporations are "stealing".... everything... while "raping"... the environment... from the "massive" inflation... under Reagan... since "meat" is... a "sum"... of its... "collective" experiences... from "locally-proced"... biosustainable... fair-traded agricultures. ?

Just encourage him to talk his usual nonsense than about semen. That's plain creepy.

I'm going to request that a mod lock this. About four people were interested in the content of the original post and the rest of it is just as much garbage as what the food processors are trying to feed us.
