I live right across the river and I saw everything today live. This is the most emotionally taxing day I have ever had as I have scrambled around and sat in traffic all day, glued to the radio, trying to find any way to help(volunteer, blood, etc.).
This is the worst day in America's history, Pearl Harbor pales in comparison. We had our major political and financial landmarks, the foundation of our countries ideals, attacked. We have been attacked on the continental US people. None of you feels safer than you did yesterday. I lost my sheltered feeling today, wondering if I was next when I go to school or the next time I go to Manhattan. Shit, I was interviewing for a job 5 blocks away last week, I easily could have been there.
The numbers are rolling in: 800 at the pentagon, between 100-200 from the plane crashes, maybe thousands in the WTC. What does this due to our economy? Will we get accustomed to fighter planes patrolling the skies over major cities? How long will it be until you feel safe boarding a plane again?
I wish there were a peaceful way to resolve this, but I keep having a recurring image of the Palestinians celebrating in the streets as if they won the fucking World Cup, shouting God is good. Where you hi-fiving your friends during replays of our bombings in the Gulf War. These cowards only understand one language:Force. These people don't fight you face to face, they stab you in the back.
Remember this day people, the mirage is over
