My Experiment With Prohormones:

first off, thanx to everybody that has offerred imput and advice about my impossible situation when it comes to making gains.
It is obvious that are some very knowledable guys hanging around here so major bump ^ to you all... I have officially been talked out of using gear anytime soon. At least until I have tried every other legal alternative. That being said, I have decided to change my training regimen and diet slightly ( at the advice of some of you guys ) while at the same time incorporating the use of a few new prohormones currently on the market. I will be keeping a journal of my training, calorie - protein - carb intake along with the use of other supplements such as creatine and protein shakes.... hopefully it will do two things,

1. prove whether or not prohormones actually provide any steroid like benefits.
2. offer insight as to what I am doing wrong if I still cannot make gains.

as for my situation, I am after a year of training still 155lbs and have never gone above 165lbs. I have used other prohormone products in the past but never saw gains during those times.
Here's what I will doing differently during this cycle.

I will modify my training by basically adding an addittional set to everything I have been doing,,, I will follow a workout given to be by another user, it will look like this......

Workout 1 - Back

Bent over rows( underhand grip - Yates style ) x 5 sets
Chin ups or lat-pull downs x 4 sets
Barbell shrugs x 3 sets
Biceps x 8 or 10 sets various exercises

Workout 2 - Chest

Incline barbell bench x 4 sets - can't flat bench right now(shoulder)
Dumbell flat bench x 4 sets
An isolation movement( cable flys, pec deck, whatever )
Triceps x 8 or 10 sets various movements

Workout 3 - Legs
Squat x 3 sets
Sumo deadlift x 3 sets
Leg press or box squat x 3 or 4 sets
Hams x 3 or 4 sets - Glute ham raises, leg curls, stiff leg dead

Workout 4 - Shoulders
Military press x 4 sets
Power cleans x 4 sets
Lateral raises x 3 sets
8 sets of arms( bi's maybe tri's - maybe bi's and tri's )

I will take in at least 6,000 calories - approx 450g carbs and at least 300g of protein each day. Carb intake is a little high so I will do 20min of cardio on any rest days just to keep body fat levels low as possible.

I will be using effervest creatine tabs ( they claim to have a 99% absorbtion rate) each morning, 30 minutes prior to eating breakfast.

Throughout the first two weeks I will spread out 4 - 100mg tabs of 1-AD along wit a Nitrotech protein shake ( which claims to the best at promoting a positive nitrogen balance ).. I will also be using Heavey Weight gainer protein shakes after each of my 4 meals.

In two weeks I will drop 1-AD dosage to 300mg's daily and stack it with 300mg of Boldione ( also a prohormone) I will continue this for an additional 4 - 6 weeks.

I will report daily on the following....

1. any side effects I may expeirence... hair loss and gyno being my greatest concern. I know that gyno is unlikely buy I have heard that bitch tits are possible with prohormones. ( i don't suspect roid rage to be an issue though :)

2. any gains in size and strength - vascularisity etc.

3. Weather or not my goals of cal / carb / prot intake have all been met

4. any change in supplement usage

If prohormones do simulate real steroids in any way, I have no doubt that I will find out once and for all. If I do make gains, I will continue the training / nutrition regimen for another 6-8weeks without the use of prohormones to see if gains can be compared " use against non-use"

now if this doesn't work,,, after i have increased training and modified my diet and have used every other supplement known to mankind,,, I humbly request that nobody bust my balls when I give up and get some real gear. :)

Note this is only on this board because there is still a debate about the anabolic value of prohormones.
 
155 and 6000 kcals a day? If you don't baloon up on a diet like that you ain't gonna grow, prohormones or not.

155 and a year of training? I assume your first day of training you weigh less than 155 or something is horrifically wrong prior to you present plan explained above.

How tall are you? B/F?

Well, don't want to saturate you with too many Q's. I would go 600mgs AD-1 and stay with that amount through entire cycle. At least that is the consensus at suppliment board. Good luck.
 
I may be in the minority here, but looks like you're setting yourself up for overtraining. Let it never be said that a beginner, which is what you are still, can't make great gains off of simple, basic exercises, i.e., squats/leg press; bent rows, incline press, curls, skullcrushers, and plenty of rest. No prohormone will ever, and I mean ever, give the "results" of steroids. Just my 2cc's.

try Corn's Old School Training Method for 6 weeks.
Keep the diet, and supps the same.

Wow 6k calories! Good luck on that, it's a chore after awhile but keep it up.

I too think you are on the edge of overtraining, you might want to head over to the training board and ask a few questions. bigdelt69 I think is on the money with corns old school (I think 3 days a week).. You grow when you rest, not in the gym.

Yes, you are absolutely right, I've only been bodybuilding for over half my life, so I know absolutely nothing of which I speak. For shame, I am so sorry to have bothered you with my ignorant post. I should know better that a person who has been training over a year without making any gains should just pack on the exercises until the point that he is in total exhaustion and when that doesn't work, he should keep adding exercises until his workouts last three or more hours. May God have mercy on me for which I know absolutely nothing about. I guess we should just abandon heavy basic exercises altogether.
 
I tried 1-Test, it did DICK. I can't remember the brand offhand, and apperantly some of them (alot of them) use low quality shit, thats yet another reason the supp industry as a whole is full of shit IMO. I have tried only a few products that have worked over the years.
 
you probobly wont listen to me about this, no one ever does

drop your training load. more is not fucking better.

i train 3 days a week, 12 total sets per day
chest/shoulders
back/biceps
legs/triceps

if i had trained this way a year ago i never would have started juicing so soon. the gains are really good

one question...how are you going to tell if prohormones work when you radically change your diet and training at the same time?
if you want to test them you have to keep your training and diet teh same-thus eliminating variables.
i would just save your money for the supps that work, creatine, protien, ala.

btw, how tall are you?
 
I'd have to agree w/ above poster on upping the 1-AD to 600mg / day for the duration. I just ended my second 1-AD cycle, and had some great strength gains coupled with a moderate increase in weight.

Only side effect of note is loss of libido. I was effectively closed for business the entire cycle. In fact, I had to quit 3 weeks early or risk losing my g/f.

If libido is an issue, I'd recommend stacking with 4AD. Not only will it help your sex drive, it should help w/ additional strength and size gains.

1st day on cycle

First off, The new creatine is actually legit, It's called Creatine Edge Effervescent by FSI Nutrition. My tabs are mandarin orange flavored, tasts just like orang crush. Reccomended usage is only once a day as soon as you wake up. Guys, I have tried the powders and the tabs and never could tell the difference. Not to mention the pain in the ass it is to remember to load the shit. I drank this orange soda shit and wound up having the best workout of my life. I didn't burn out half as quickly as I normally do which. I was able to burst through my sets like never before. Of course I'm not saying I was lifting any heavier, just that I was able to go longer before fatique set in.

I' came to the conclusion that there was no way to fit that entire workout regimen into one hour. so I did wo#1 and #2 and am already sore as hell,,, feels good.

I was missed my mark as far as dramatically changing my diet, although I did get a few more grams of protein than normal and I concentrated on the intake of complex carbohydrates as much as possible. here's how the diet looked for the day

calories = 4,075 carbs = 374g proteins = 166.5g

as planned I spread out 400mg of 1-AD ....btw, i don't really think it would be wise to immediately start taking six doses...i'll give it a day or two and see how i'm feeling. Thanx for the advice though. I will be on the lookout for the issues with sex drive, my wife is nymph so it will be issue.

taking into a few opinions posted do guys think I should leave my diet as is....would this be a better gauge of the prohormone effectiveness.... I mean, even if you juice up with real gear, wouldn't still need to modify your diet?

I do plan to heed the advice about overtraining,,,, what do you think about rest days? should I be taking any? if so how many?

I just wanted to share my experience. I started out last year at around 150lbs. I've always been skinny (6.25 inch wrist, if that's any indication). I made gains for about 9 months at which time I weighed 160lbs. Then my gains stopped.

I train with plenty of intensity, try to eat enough (i was gaining fat, but not muscle at that point), and got plenty of sleep. And, I only trained 3 days or so per week.

So, I tried transdermal 4-AD in massive quantities (with DMSO). At the end of 4 weeks I weighed about the same but had a little better definition. (for whatever reason) I was disapointed.

I took about 10 days off from training and gained about 3 pounds. Since then, I've cut my training back to training all bodyparts once over one or a couple days and then resting for 9-12 days. I've gained a solid pound every week and it is mostly muscle. (My fat went up some, but I cut out the junk and now it is back to normal and I kept my gains, so it still works for me)

I don't know if this would work for everyone, but I've always been a hard gainer and this seems to be the best thing I've done as far as rest and training goes.

For overtraining prevention, go to cyberpump.com and read the training faq.

I would do this first along with your high calorie diet before using prohormones like AD-1. That PH will work well, but I would save it for sticking points after attempts of all training and diet manuevers.
 
Day two - possible side effect

I didn't get to train as I was sick all day. What ever my little girl had apparently spread. I did manage to hold all my meals and supplements down and did some little ab sets with no probs.

Cals = right at 3500 carbs = 260 protein = 135 g

for what it's worth i have been sore as hell today much more that usual - indicating that i truly did have a hell of a work out yesterday. I continued the dosage of 400mg of 1-AD too.
This will sound like shit, but my my wife said that I looked harder, I was thinking the same thing but dismissed it as being impossible.
Possible side effect though, I had a little trouble getting an erection when duty called but once I got started I was considerably harder than usual. What caught my attention most was that I experienced climax with very mild ejaculation, for a second I wondered if i had fired a blank... my balls do't seem smaller though so maybe it can be contributed to my being sick.
