Muscle Memory

I cycled on and off for years when I was competing and built and retained a good muscle base. I'm training hard again at 48 and am seeing size return. Just wondering if its possible to regain muscle mass I once had through muscle memory?

That's not what muscle memory is, muscle memory is training a muscle to perform a task enough that you think and it will perform that action without having to engage your brain in trying to perform that action. Like a efficient jumper shooter, the first time a nba player shot a ball he thought to himself ok, jump, bend wrist back, flick wrist, propel the ball enough to get it in the basket. Years later he can just jump and all that happens without having to think about each step.

I would say, depends on the situation, could Ronnie coleman, hop on again and get back to his prime no... could you go from 150 lbs ripped to 200 lbs ripped, drop back to 170, 200 probably could be reached again natty but if you had ridiculous size before, probably not.

you are getting up there in age so don't think you will look as good as you did when you were younger.

but yeah of course you will build muscle faster than someone who has never lifted before at your age.

i'm a strong believer with bodybuilding you peak in your late 30's/early 40's...

Muscle memory is a beautiful thing...I had taken quite a break from training with my husband, and started back up a few months ago and my strength, muscle tone, and shape is coming right back like I never stopped...he pushes the hell out of me to the point I want to smack him with a dumbell...but actually thank him when I see the results happening...all about muscle memory!
