Muscle Growth

How big of an indication is soreness related to growth? I tend to get insanely sore after training. I've heard a difference of opinions.. one saying it has no relevance of one to another.. and the other saying it does.

Are there any good studies out there that prove either to be more accurate..

...there are a staggering number of hypotheses relating to DOMS and growth.

Personally I have noticed that the "fitter" I am...the quicker I get sore....and the faster the sorness leaves....

imo - soreness comes from microtears in the muscle......so, if you rule out Latic Acid as the sorness culprit...then soreness is a fair-good indicator thatyour wo was intense enough to break down muscle fibers

I keep my intensity pretty high.. but notice my lower body responds a lot better... Its very seldom my upper body will get nearly as sore as legs.. or stay sore for nearly as long.

Some weeks I'll remain sore in the quads glutes and hams for up to 4 or 5 days... where as Back .. i barely can even tell i've hit it.

imo - legs need a different rep range - ie - slightly higher

Well lately I have been hitting at least 12-15 and the last set to complete failure. And that last routine I did.. AHEM :verygood: KILLED ME.

I've found both doing the 8x2 routine I was doing for my DE days.. or go moderate weight for more reps, I still get very sore.
