Mommalu's Transfirmation Journal

I am seeing more changes in my upper body than my lower. (I've been told that legs take allot longer to develop. Yes?)

How so? More visible muscle size or something else?

Just throwing some stuff out there. :)
New muscle and/or improved conditioning could be more evident in the upper just b/c we generally carry much less fat upstairs, so even a pound or two of new muscle will tend to jump out at you. Also, the quads group and the hams are long, large muscles, so adding a bit there is really hard to notice, while adding a bit to the arms would make a bigger impact.

Lastly, could just be genetic for you. You may have hardgainer legs. Mine are "rabbit" legs, meaning they grow very easily. Three months back into training and I squat 205 for 16 to about 3" below parallel, but I have total stringbean arms despite my best efforts. You could be the other way around maybe and see a lot of improvement upstairs before much seems to be happening below the hips. :)

I finally decided to take the next step in my life changing journey. I'm meeting with a fitness/diet coach on Sunday to discuss my next level of fitness.
I'm not sure what to expect so I'll have to give you an update after my meeting. Are there any questions I should specifically ask? I'm nervous but very excited at the same time(is it Sunday yet)
ALSO~ May 16th, I'm attending my first BB/Figure show(I'll be the spectator:biggrin:) This is going to be SOO awesome!! Prejudging is at 8:30am/Finals at 5pm. Can I bring a camera??

Other than that, my workouts have been great!!
Diet is going great too. OH~ how is homemade beef jerky as a snack? Made from Top Sirloin.
 
Now here's the big question. How can females avoid or somehow suppress that imbalance between thighs/butt % and other areas?

Primrose Oil. Take it at night.
Most women dont eat enough fat. That in turn cranks up the estrogen which makes them hold it in certain areas. You got it... thighs and butt.
I may be part woman. I think I have the same issue. No laughing!

Very interesting. We have just this week been looking into yohimbine. I had read that women's thighs and butt have a predominance of alpha receptors (not beta). Therefore the standard clen, albuterol, ephedrine, etc don't have much affect on these areas. yohimbine is an alpha inhibitor and can work to mobolize the fat in these areas.

And i'm not laughing, on average my legs hold 2% more bodyfat than my core. It aint cool!

Try 25% bf in the lower body and 5% core. I look like a pear ;-)

I hold all my fat in the same areas as my mother! Okay, you can laugh.

Find out how his program work and for how long. How much and what does he offer for that time period. How often will he train you per week.

It's been so nice here the last few days that I've been outside in my pond.
Yesterday I spent 6 hours in the garden getting it ready and planting all my veggies. This way I'll always have fresh salad at my fingertips.
Thursday if it's nice, I plan on draining and cleaning the pond and getting it all ready. It's an all day/night job but someone has to do it!!
This is my passion away from work

It was suggested to me that I take a week off. Not sure if I can do that.
Maybe a day or 2 but 7. That scares me.

god, thats absolutely gorgeous! your passion is a talent ma'am! i would pay you to sit there with my cup of tea, or a nice book, or to just take a breather.

also great job on keeping the workouts going, i don't think they will stop anytime for you. congrats in accepting your new healthier life style and being happy with it, keep it up!

That is a serious garden! When i think of garden i think of a few rows of green beans and maybe some watermelon lol. This is really cool.
 
Thank you all for the nice comments. Yesterday I was actually off and was able to drain, clean & refill the pond(5000 gallons) I'm paying for it today.

I also wanted to share a personal triumph I had at the gym yesterday.
I was able to do 3 sets of dips for 5 reps each time. 2 months ago I could not do one. It brought the biggest smile to my face:D

So yesterday I attended my first Natural Body Building/Fitness show and all I can say is WOW!!
The show started at 5pm and was "SOLD OUT":mad: so we stuck around till 7pm and finally was able to get in (as people were leaving) to see some of the show. What an experience.

I've also been doing good. Workouts are still going really strong. Yesterday, The club manager & I went to another location to workout before we hit the show. It was great because she showed me many new moves that I would not have even thought to do.
I am getting tighter in all the right areas and was down 2 pounds in 2 weeks. My jeans are also really loose on me(so I know it's working)
Today after work...I'm going Horseback riding. Should be allot of fun.
 
So today I had a personal best on the leg press machine. I pushed 300# for 4 reps. Then not knowing that the sled is 118 # to start with. So~ I think that makes it 418# right?:qt:
I also squatted 115# for 6 reps(that was tough)

The sled is 118#? I always wanted to know exactly, but I heard 45# and 60#.
I'd really love to know in order to determine how much I'm pushing.

Some guy at the gym this am pointed it out to me. It states right on the machine that beginning weight is 118#.
PS~ I went to my first figure show Saturday.

Yes annie...we push pounds :)
Thursday was Chest day and I was able to Bench press 95lbs. Normally I use DB's(40's) and flat bench those. Love it!!

Had an awesome weekend with the weather and just being outside in th garden. Was ready for lunch and had this:

So today my club had an open house. I left work a bit early because it was slow and I wanted to see what was going on. I entered a wall sit competition and sat there for 5min 19 sec before I gave up. Then I did 3 pull ups and 30 push ups. My son did 100 push ups(go Justin)
This is my 20yo son who is in the Army and is being deployed to Iraq July 8th :( for a 1 year mission with Operation Iraqi Freedom. Please say a prayer for him that everything will be ok and he will have a safe return. Mom's been a basket case lately. This will be his first deployment.
Sorry to ramble...just wanted to exhaust my anxiety.

Holy cow~ I had to dig my thread out from page 5. I know it's been awhile since I've updated my journal but things are still going strong and I'm still hitting the gym 5 days a week and getting allot stronger. Now my quest...is to cut.

There's a figure show here in MN in November and my club manager is training for it. I told her that I'd like to cut with her these last few weeks and see where I end up. I was instructed on a 35gF 85gC 160gP and workout 3X this week with 3 20 min cardio sessions. Next week things will change.
Like I said, I'm new to cutting and so if there are any tips you can add, I'd really appreciate it. I plan on taking pictures at the 4 week mark. I started Saturday (sept 5th)because I spent the last week in Vegas!!

also~ what's a good ECA stack?

Please let me know if you can see changes. I've been seriously lifting for 8 months now and have really increased my strength. I'd like to really cut for 6 weeks to see how I progress. Please be honest and tell me what you think. I appreciate it.

I've been doing some serious training and am meeting with the promoter of MN Natural BB & Fitness. There may just be a may show in order ;)

I also have to thank Ironwings & One breath for all their hard work and encouragement. Congrats to both of you on receiving your cross fit certification!!!

Today I took another step ahead...I'm meeting next week with the promoter/Trainer of the Mr./Ms. Natural Minnesota Bodybuilding, Figure & X-Treme Fit Championships which are in May. I'm so excited I'm nervous ;)

I did it!! I entered a Figure Competition. May 21st is the day :)
I'm currently 15 weeks out. And fricken excited!!! Woo hoo
