I like ryan. In his interviews he comes across like a No Bullshit politician. He's probably the most anti-washington choice for vp. Only thing i've always thought (just like rubio) is that he's pretty young.

Does anyone really think anything will change here? Nothing is really under Obama than it was with Bush. We got debt, no matter what we'll get more. We're still at war, probably will be in a new one sooner than later. People are still out of work and the rich are just getting richer. Nothing is going to change because for that to happen people will need to give shit up, and that's just not going to happen.

Doesn't believe prisoners deserve any form of assistance once they get out of prison, doesn't believe in rehab programs for current prisoners. Is against medical marijuana and medically assisted suicide.
Here's what I don't get ... everyone wants "government to be smaller" and it's ALWAYS people who want to get up in your personal business (gayness, abortions, marijuana use) who want it. Smaller government, but nosier, I guess

I don't know much about him yet, but I think the fact that he's a Catholic, will debunk all the rumors that Mormons stick only with Mormons, when it comes to business and government. Mormons and Catholics don't generally mix, as they both declare that they are the "only true church", thus the other must not be "true". Basically a Romney-Ryan ticket is a strong statement to support Romney's open-mindedness! And from what little I've read thus far, Ryan knows the score on fixing the economy.

My friend and I used to say if we had the choice to do business with a mormon, or a christian of any other denomination, we would do business with the mormon every time. Neither of us are mormon.

I posted what the church actually teaches wiht explanations, and dispelled complete untruths. You posted facts, many of which were blatant lies. I know what the church teaches much better than most mormons do (not to sound cocky, but I do.), and definitely better than someone who is not mormon.

What makes me an expert?
Well, compared to you, I for one am actually an active mormon, served 2 years strictly to proselytizing and studying the bible and book of mormon and teachings of the church. I'm an ordained elder of the church, and I'm a Doctrinal Studies teacher. On the side, I have spent tons of hours going through anti-mormon claims over the last 6 years and learning many things both historically and theologically are not taught in depth in regular sunday school if at all.
You'd be hardpressed to say something that I don't know about, even the lies people intentionally spread.
First point, the church's donations outside of its members is not the main focus. The hundreds of millions of dollars annually donated through fast offerings go towards helping members who are struggling, as well as non member families within the boundaries of the area of the funds donated. That is purely private church record and is not public. Also, tithing donations are used to build houses of worship and other facilities used for religious purposes.
The church holds record of all baptised living members, even if they are inactive. Someone may claim to no longer be a member in a census survey, but unless they formally request that their records be removed from the church, they are considered a member and are counted as such. This would probably be a similar finding in every census taken anywhere in the world. There's nothing deceptive about it. In my last assigned area in Chile on my mission, there were 137 members on file. We had between 20 and 30 members attend regularly.
The LDS Church does indeed have a corporate business side, but it is absolutely and completely separate from the religious aspect. Deseret News, Deseret Book, Bonoville Communications, KSL news 5 (NBC) are all owned by the business side of the church. Not a single penny of tithing or other member donations were used to fund the City Creek shopping center. Monson rarely speaks in public anyways, so that is some snake-in-the-grass implication to even say that.
There has always been a standard of the appropriate wearing of the garment. You are to wear it all times that are rational to do so. Wearing what is in basic form a t shirt and boxer shorts under your clothes while mowing the lawn or planting flowers is hardly a hard thing to ask. The church is very well recognized for its humanitarian aid efforts, preparedness and prompt response to natural disasters. If you didn't know this, now you do. They were nearly first on scene for Katrina, Haiti earthquake, and the various tsunamis in asia. If you want to knock them for that, you should also spit on Mother Theresa's grave for all she did for people. That number amounts to $1 Billion in the last decade. Scoff at a $1 Billion dollar effort over the last decade all you want, $1 Billion is admirable any way you want to crack it.
