milk thistle (silymarin).....seems to have protective qualitites associated with the liver. not sure of it is an anti-oxidant, but thats pretty much why people take it. read i was used in cirrohsis patients in germany, not sure if true
ALA....alpha lipoic acid, seems to increase insulin sensitivity in cells.....depending on the form of the ALA (there appears to be a sythetic form which is an anti-oxidant and not much else and a r-form which increases sensitivity). i wanna find out more stuff in the big journals about this, but havent; found anything, especially since doctors in my neck of the woods havent heard about this
