Milk Thistle-Bad for gains

I just got done reading an "study" in the new Muscular Development entitled "Milk Thistle: Good for Livers, Potentially Bad for Gains" (Page 271). The bottom line of this "study" stated that Milk Thistle "seems to prevent the androgen receptor from traveling to the nucleus, and in our case, this prevents the desired effect. The androgen receptor, once bound to the androgen, must make it to the nucleus in order to increase protein synthesis."
Authors were: Zhu W, Zhang JS, Young CY.

This is very interesting if in fact it is credible.... This of course would mean taking Milk Thistle could be hurting our gains!! Given that it may be time to find other means of liver protection, maybe ALA, LIV 52, ect..?

I think that if that were true I would not have gained 20 pounds on my last cycle, but hey, you never know, I guess it could have been 25 pounds if I wasnt on milk thistle. Scary but interesting.

so will everybody finally take another liver protector

and skip the milk tistle. My god, it will take ages i guess....
 
last march i took 40mgs d-bol/ 200mgs enanthate/ 500mgs sust and i only gained like 10lbs in a 10wk cycle,, the whole time i took milk thistle maybe thats why i didnt see any "good" gains,, my last cycle i didnt fuck with milk thistle and i gained a quality 15lbs on low doses?....makes you think?
 
I took milk thistle ED and gained 15 pounds on an ox/winny cycle and lost 5% BF.
 
ALpha-Lipoic Acid is a good alt. Milk Thistle has never stopped me or my colleuges from good gains....but who's to say what we may have gained without it.....don't care...my liver comes first.
 
While the conclusion of the article is disturbing, I have to again repeat my original quote "This is very interesting if in fact it is credible". This is the only study I can so far find that has come to this conclusion. There is room for doubt here. Additionally if in fact this is a good conclusion, the loss of gains was not quantified. In other words there would be no good way to tell what could have happened if a given bodybuilder had not taken Milk Thistle in a cycle. The fact is, as we all know it is very rare we see real studies that use subjects such as our selfs who run an amazing array and combination of performance enhancing drugs. At least on the surface I would believe from my experience and others around me that if in fact milk thistle affected our gains it was minor. I posted the article, just in the case it had some merit and as food for thought. Most of us here want all we can get out of our cycles and if there is a chance this is hindering us, then at least for me I will consider other options for a few cycles and watch the results.

take the weekend off on the Thistle

Try to skip the wk ends on the milk thistle ,remember we are trying to find out what works best for our own body. But be careful you only get one liver per person.BB Getting big as a f**king house is not worth killing myself .

Milk Tistle? WELL Because that's what we have been discussing in this thread.....I presented an alt. and I presented my experiences with using the Tistle...Thistle.
