Milk thistle and liver- what to look for with all the different concentrations

I have been looking at this and see some 1000mg and 250mg stuff for the same price at the same company. Whats the difference and what is the best type I should be getting.

you should actually do a search for concentrated beta-sitosterol, its the active ingredient in milk thistle, see when you order the milk thistle by itself, your getting the plant material, not the actual ingredient be that as it may there is some beta-sitosterol in the plant material, it isn't by itself...hope this helps

oops, i meant silymarin, not beta sitosterol, beta is in saw palmetto, silymain is the ingredient in milk thistle, sorry.

You're thinking of something else bro, Silymarin is actually the active ingredient in Milk Thistle. Nonetheless, you need to get a standardized milk thistle extract (or standardized silymarin). So it should read something like "standardized to contain 80% silymarin from milk thistle," or something of that nature.

what about this product the 250mg from 4:1 extract is confusing me.

I just bought milk thistle with 80% silymarin (100 capsules) for $7.77 fron the vitamin shoppe yesterday, hope this helps..
