Milk Blocks Protein Digestion????

I have seen this a couple times on here and was wondering if it is complete BS or if its not then can someone explain why?

Thanks

Chuck

I don't think it blocks it but it decreases the speed of absortion. For one thing It has casinate in it wich last alot longer than whey. And the second thing is it could be due to the lactose as many people are lactose intulerent. But as for me I love milk and drink a gallon ed!

Interesting, never heard that before. Casienate is suppose to slow down digestion. Which is the reason I like to use it in shakes because whey protien, despite it's great makeup, is digested too fast to be absorbed. So I thought slow down the digetion with milk to digest the whey better?

i dunno about it blocking the absorbtion of other protein, but there was a post a while back publishing the percentage of protein usage...milk came in #1, followed by tuna...so i hardly doubt it blocks protein absorbtion.

J strong is on the right track.Casein is chalked full of a nice array of slow-release aminos...It has anti-catabolic properties due to it's slow release into the blood stream, and is actually superior to whey in this regard. The solution is to run both together as whey induces hyperaminoacedemia(anabolic)but is in and out of the blood stream rapidly, while the casein provides that slow, steady release of amino's over a several hour time span and makes up for whey's inherant weakness.

Thanks for clearing all of that up fellas. I was wondering how it could block it. It makes much more sense that it slows the absorption down....Again, thanks for all of the quick responses.:D :D :D

That's why all my pre-bed shakes are mixed with milk and include caseinate powder. Before I drink it I have some peanut butter since a little fat should also help to slow digestion.
