Aren't "mer-people" alergic to chocolate?

Unfortunately no, that's one of the many myths of Mer-people.

Maybe if you shake your shells at Mr. P he won't drag you to the gym. ;)

I tried that today. It worked for all of 2 minutes. Then he dragged me to the gym by my hair.

Yeah well maybe for you! Unfortunately 22 year olds are wayto immature for me :) I prefer older just because I can conversationally connect better and have more to talk about!

Tuesday
Meal 1 – 1 ready made protein shake
Meal 2 – 2 slices sourdough rye, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1 tbsp organic cherry jam
Meal 3 – 1½ cup homemade chicken chilli
Meal 4 – 2 slices sourdough rye, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1 tbsp organic cherry jam
Meal 5 – 2 eggs, poached, 1 cup vegetarian beans, 1 slice cheddar
1607 cals
P: 30
C: 36
F: 34
Fibre: 41g

AM Cardio – brisk soft sand beach walk – 25 mins
Deadlift – 5x7 (20, 25, 30, 35, 40)
Needsize Abs – I HATE THESE – 3x10
Swiss ball crunches – 3x10

Cardio – treadmill – 20 mins of 6kph @ 6%

I know, a lot of carbs today. But I am trying to use up all my food before the trip and will buy a whole load of more suitable foods for next week. The gym was busy even though I went a bit later and got frustrated with the grunters. Feel good for the extra cardio.

I had my results back from the food allergy/intolerance tests. Apparently I need to avoid:

Wheat, cow's milk, cow's milk products (not including whey), pork, oranges, dates, pistachio nuts, peanuts, peanut butter, mushrooms, refined sugars, cocoa, coffee, beer, wine.

No surprise on wheat and dairy, that must be a western world given but some of the others were a surprise. So vodka is safe :p though, obviously, alcohol should be avoided at all times.

I'm going out on a limb now :worried: - and remember this is a really big deal for me and my mental strength BUT:

It is 90% likely that I will be going to Treil's show on July 15th (soooooo excited). This is almost 14 weeks away. And I do NOT want to look and feel like this when I meet up with everyone. Bunny's idea of a mini comp has made me think that maybe I should treat the next 3 months as MY competition. Already, as I type, I'm telling myself that I can't do this, mentally I'm too weak. But too late - it's decided. From Tuesday next week (on return from my trip) I start Mermaid's competition diet (no cheats, no alcohol, full training), following Treil in her prep. Cold turkey - fuck the baby steps, they're not working anyway.

Faaaarrrrrkkk me. This is going to be hard :worried: Oh girls, please :velvett: me when you can, I really need help with this.

The angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other are in a big fight right now - bugger - go on press submit, you can do it, press submit, do it NOW

Wow, allergies! I couldn't live without my coffee! YOU WILL DO THIS! I started in september at 30% bodyfat and it took a long time on my own but in Feb I was 24.6 and getting it tested again next week. You have so much support here and so many people with great information! YOU WILL DO THIS! don't even think in your mind you can't you already are doing it, so that statement just isn't true anyway.

Write down your goal and write it down as I WILL and post it up!

OMG!!! I'm so freakin' excited I'm wigglin' in my seat!!!!! Mermaid's comin' to the STATES!!!!!!!!

I was talking to Bunn's about this the other day. ROOMS at a HOTEL!!! What do you think? Treil is going to be with her friends the night before the contest and probably nervous as hell and with all of us around hootin' and hollerin', she's probably going to beat on us for drivin' her NUTS!!!!! lol (I could be wrong)

Anyway, with GG, Bunny, IP, Nelms, you, me and possibly others going to the comp., maybe a few rooms would be the way to go? What do you think?

(also, IP & Nelms, I know you're here all the time....what do YOU TWO think?)

:eek2:

Thank goodness I wasn't eating. That's just disturbing...

What's disturbing is that the colors of their suits are neon & they are all standing there smiling like they're swimsuit models for Sports Illustrated.

The one lady has 2 a$$es, one in the back and one up front cuz that kinda looks like buttcrack to me.

I dont think they look THAT bad!

yeah right... GROSS!!! I swear, if that ever happened to me...

well, at least they're gettin $paid$. :laugh2:
Maybe that's why they're smilin ;) Or... they are laughing at eachother thinking the other one looks worse than they do.

My dd and I saw a very overweight woman going into the dr. office when we were leaving and she said "oh mom look at that poor woman!" (she is such a sympathetic soul :verygood: ) and I took the opportunity to say "Yes, she has been eating way too much and eating bad foods/junk. She is killing herself and dying a slow death!"
*Hope she remembers that and tries to eat healthier, I've been crackin' down a little more with the kids now that i'm more health conscious!!" :)

Well I'm back. Had a really good time, a much needed break with P.

Now on to the serious stuff.

I cheated well, picking my most favorite foods, almost like a farewell ceremony and enjoying every bite.

I'm going to completely avoid all foods on my intolerance list, all alcohol and basically stick to as much of a competition diet as I can. I will however, ensure I have a piece of fruit, colored veggies (peppers, tomato (fruit) etc) and beans. I have an almost paranoid fear of constipation and must ensure my fiber is high. Will be reading more on carb cycling tonight and will incorporate that program also.

Morning cardio is a must so getting up at 5.30am for the gym, plus returning for weights in the evening.

The first 21 days will be tough. But then I'm hoping habits will set in.

But I am SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a really amazing opportunity for you (and P!) to take a very specific amount of time and create "new" bodies. Even 1 lb. per week would be 12 lbs. of fat, and I'll bet you can do better than that and actually gain a little muscle, too. P told me he was going to be gone just a FEW more days, and then you two will really have an outstanding support and partner system. You two are really wonderful for each other and can lovingly help each other until doing workouts consistently is more exciting and rewarding than the short-term misguided pleasure of missing it. The guilt after missing sucks, huh?

Apply your strengths in other areas to this, Mermaid (Now it's weird to call you Mermaid - LOL!). Remember the art gallery: nothing will ever be as it was, and you can change anything you don't like.

No worries. Ever. :)

Alarm went off, 5.30am, snoozed for 10, then rolled out. Got to the gym and did 20 mins on elliptical. It was damn hard, I can tell you. Ate egg whites and a kiwi.

My only problem is now that I am so geared up for this, I want to read the board at every possible moment and there are so many journals and other good stuff that it is taking too much time out of my work day!! I'll have to ration myself, LOL.

No doubt, the July trip is excellent motivation for me. I really need this.

:)

Damn. Posted in everyone else's log and then almost forgot to update my own, duh.

Day 1 - Tuesday 18 April

Meal 1 – 1 cup whites, 1 yolk; 1 kiwi fruit
Meal 2 – 3oz sardines, 1 large tomato
Meal 3 – 1 cup chopped chicken breast, 1 cup cucumber, 1 tbsp mayonnaise
Meal 4 – 3 scoop whey, 1 cup frozen raspberries; 1oz almonds
Meal 5 – 4oz chicken breast, 1 slice rye bread, 1 tbsp cashew butter
1665cals
P: 177g 44%
C: 65g 14%
F: 78g 42%
Fibre: 25g

AM Cardio – 20mins elliptical w/ arms – >70rpm @ level 3
Smith machine shoulder press – 3x10
DB lateral raise – 3x10
Machine rear deltoid – 3x10

Cardio – 20mins bike - >80rpm @ level 7

I was a bit silly. First day, low/no carb day, still wanted to lift in the evening. I was so hungry by 6pm that my stomach hurt. At the gym, and planning on chest and back, I was as strong as a chip. Got pissed off with myself, did a simple but still taxing (only 'cos i was so damn hungry) shoulder workout followed by more cardio. I felt so sick.

Succumbed to a rye slice (no wheat/dairy) with my chicken. I feel OK now and have learned a lesson. Low/no carb days are for cardio only or rest days. Need carbs for lifting.

Aren't low carb days fun? I definitely agree with you...no carb days are for rest or low intensity cardio. Sometimes going into hiding is good for no carb days as well so that no one else feels the wrath. :lmao:

I know! I want to read everyone's log and respond and it takes me close to an hour every day!!!
Great job on the a.m. cardio.

I am looking forward to watching you succeed - you GO gurl!!! It is all about the July meet up - lol!! We can all motivate one another ;)

I am so glad to hear that you had an awesome trip with P, and are ready to get to it!! Great job on rolling out of bed this morning - keep it up!!

PS - how in the world did you get sardines down??

Cool! You've jumped on the AM cardio bandwagon too! You know, it's because of YOUR post on how to get yourself out of bed that I'm doing it now too! Thank you for that....I just really HATE mornings!! lol

My grandpa use to eat sardines, and other things like....pigs feet :barf:

Don't sardines have tons of sodium in them?

Glad the getting up thing is working for you. Today was HARD! So I rolled over, fired up the laptop, checked the board and was motivated to go!! whatever works.

Just checking the sardine can...............damn. Yes, a serving has nearly a gram of sodium :worried: Didn't even think about that! Cross those off the shopping list.

Thanks for the tip :bigkiss:

AM HIIT Cardio – treadmill – 13 mins 6.3kph @ 5% and 15% incline
Then: 7 mins step mill @ level 7 steady state

I have decided to stick to low/no carb for a couple more days and AM cardio. I shall resume weights at the weekend when I can have a carb up breakfast and try to lift heavy. I'm going through more of a detox than I imagined and I guess I'll have to confess a couple of naughties to explain why. I had coffee everyday and never logged it - you know, just coffee, splash milk etc. but some days I would have 5 cups. I've now gone cold turkey and I'm in pain and it's only the second day :worried: I've replaced it with green tea and managed over a gallon of water today but the headache is still a killer. Plus with the low/no carb, mmm, a mess.

My weekend was full of junk. I've bloated like a balloon (couldn't even get my pants on today) due to the carbs so that is another reason why I just feel like "cleaning out". It's OK, I'll get through it.

HIIT was unbelievable. At the end of the 12th minute I felt like I couldn't breathe so I switched to the step mill. But that's OK, I'll build up again.

Determination is still alive even though I feel like absolute shit.

;)

Good post, Mermaid. Things are looking good.

Since you're not lifting until the weekend, I need you to do 50 total bodyweight squats and 30 pushups throughout the day, broken up however you need to.

Everyday.

I sorta did the same thing when I restarted. I ate the same meals for the first week just to flush all the pipes and I also struggled with working 1 body part per day and barely doing any cardio.

Now I'm adding the morning cardio every day, changed up to working each body part twice per week. I'm tired and sore today but I'm not giving up.

Salmon fight to swim upstream & they never give up so don't even think you have the option of quiting. Now dust yourself off and let's go. :p

I believe giving up is against the "MER CODE" anyway, they might reposess your fins ;)

AM Cardio – step mill – 20 mins of random profile @ level 7

A much better day. Headache subsiding, downing the agua is certainly helping. Work was also so busy that I almost forgot to eat but I made myself stop, breathe and get food. I probably need more green food and will work on incorporating that over the next few days. I don't understand what is going on in my head - stress and the 3pm cravings came and went and I did not weaken at all (thought about it though). Still it is only day 3 :worried:

I will overcome my issues with my body. I will be the best I can be. I am going to do this.

It was such a beautiful morning that on the way out to my car to go to the gym, I thought, no, I'll pound the pavement. It was the highlight of my day. As each hour went by, I became more tired, cravings were off the chart and was just pissed off. I couldn't work properly. I'm lifting tomorrow so I knew I needed some carbs. The baked potato was one of the tastiest things I have eaten in ages - my mum always said that simple was best :)

Anyway, didn't cheat, it's Friday night, no alcohol :verygood: and after my favourite oatmeal protein pancakes in the morning, I'll hit the gym.

TGI the weekend. Even though I have to work :(

Agitated? You mean there are other moods while dieting? :worried:

Pancakes? You get pancakes? :bawling:

I hope your spirits life up soon, Mermie. I hate when I have that constant feeling of being agitated. I think it may be the case of you missing your daily coffee...I hear it takes a few days for the body and brain to re-adjust to that.

Congrats on the no alcohol and on heading out to run! :)

Isn't it amazing how good something so simple as a potato can taste after days of low carbs? It's actually quite comical when you think about it, eating the potato with the orgasmic look on your face. ;) :lmao:

How were the pancakes and workout this morning? Your pancakes ROCK! :) :arty:

I woke up Saturday and felt like sh!t. I managed to get a massage appointment and had my lower back worked on - before she had even finished I had a headache. For the rest of the day, I drank nearly two gallons of water and had a very good refeed. I think I'm detoxing quite well. There were times when all I could think about was icecream :mix:

Sunday I had much more pep. My workout, even though I was lifting slightly lighter than in previous weeks, was great. I felt good...I feel good. Except I may be picking up P's flu bug so I'm upping the zinc and vit c supps.

Still tomorrow is a Public Holiday and although I have to work (a Friday deadline), I can do it from home. Going to bed now (7pm) and hope to feel better in the morning.
