Low T, hypogonadism: What's it like?

Re: Well

personally I think me being a borderline alcoholic was what triggered the hypogonadism. My total test levels at the ripe old age of 33 were 221... at 8AM in the morning (when test levels peak)!

My symptoms... emotionally crazy, lack of sex drive and when I could get it up was difficult to acheive ejaculation (drove my wife crazy), lack of confidence, lost muscle mass (went from benching over 300lbs to barely able to get 230lbs up and I was actively working out).

I just started the test in Sep of '03 and I can tell a huge difference. Sex drive is rocking and the muscles are coming back.

If you need HRT then do it!! It will change your life!

Someone fill me in what is HRT???

Agree w/all the above. I was tired, depressed, and had a feeling of impending doom. I also had trouble gaining muscle and losing fat once I hit my 30's.

Been on cyp for about 5 months and just started HGH.
Feeling of impending doom thats the same way i would describe it

To answer your question test levels do not have to be completely out of range to begin feeling symptoms. It really comes down to everyone being different in this case. The general range is approx 247 to 827 ng for the AVG Person but whats to say you are average. Example take 2 18yr olds we will call them A and B. First A is an active individual exercises, sports, etc. typically will have a higher test level for this example 1000ng Guy B not so physically active has a test level of 700ng. Both men comfortable in their own respect. Now move forward to lets say 35 Guy A now has a test level of 600ng and Guy B also has a level of 600ng. Guy A will now experience a tremendous change in his quality of life. Some believe this is called andropause which is similar to menopause for women but has not been truly determined as a diagnosis. We feel that for this to happen you would have to do preliminary tests on individuals when they age cycle has them at their peak testosterone producing years and then again later in life to determine the changes.

Actually, it's been shown that physically active men have slightly lower testosterone levels than men who are not that active. I'm not saying their quality of life is worse because their testosterone is lower; as a matter of fact, it's probably better since being physically active brings about a plethora of other good things. But nonetheless, their testosterone levels will be lower. Charles Poliquin once said that virtually every athlete he works with has lower-than-normal testosterone levels.
