Low rep leg press question...?

SofaGeorge

Of late... I have been using low rep leg presses as part of my leg routine. Traditionally I worked in the 8-20 rep range. Now I am doing sets in the 2-4 rep range.

Does anyone have any thoughts/experience regarding low rep leg press.

I always did them low rep. Like 4-8...usually the weight dictated that. When I stopped doing leg presses, about a year ago, I was at 9 plates each side for 6. I'd do that 2-3 times as a workset. One time, Wilson6 made me do 7 each side for 50 (25...pause...15...pause...10). Almost killed me. Almost. ;)

I never do more than 10 unless I am trying a burnout. Usually I shoot for around 8 with as much weight as possible.

Cheers,
Scotsman

This may not be a constructive contibution to your question, (though I never really did less than 4 on a set)

But the best part of leg presses is that I had this buddy in college who used to play soccer in Europe who loved leg day, cause he would fill up the pegs with as much weight as would fit, throw a couple plates on top of the moving thing, and then jump on top and scream at me while I chunked out reps (I think he got the idea from some dumba$$ magazine).... Probably not very safe, but one of my all time best lifting memories....
