I would also argue that by definition the old soviet union was also not true socialists like what Marx envisioned because they had a ruling elite. bino's right on this one. Thing though that we have to understand is that those piece of shit greeks hired some piece of shit americans (GOldman) to hide thir problems from the EU. Things wouldn't have been nearely as bad had the EU discovered this a decade ago, and people in Greece would not have to go thorugh the amount of "austerity" that they have to now. Alot of people in the EU are grumbling that it was a deliberate move by the americans to destablize the euro. Whether that's true or not the perception is out there. Fucking Goldman should be ransacked for that and the executives tarred and feathered and made to run down 5th avenue

Im not saying there werent other reasons. But the underlining reasons were the rules made that allowed a country that Catered to the bankers and had negligible revenue because of said catering.
