:D "Prom dress.".. ;) that made me snicker. I'll be 36 tomorrow! !!

But the point Jen is trying to make remains the same....you've given it less than 2 weeks to work. Diets are a LONG TERM solution, not a quick fix. Changing your body takes times, dedication and a lot of research and trial and error. Nobody here can give you a "sure thing". We can only guide you to help you find what works for you. But normally, you need to give your body 4-6 weeks to see if something is working for you (diet and training).

To look good for a certain SHORT TERM EVENT....cut ALL carbs out and bottom out your cals. Eat only protein and fat. Drop ALL sodium (sodium is in just about everything - no salad dressings, condiments, ANYTHING processed). No soda, only water and black coffee. Do cardio like a mad woman. Drink loads of water. You'll lose weight, but you'll be flabby, soft, weak, tired and miserable. But your scale will say what you want it to say.

Well, Happy Birthday!! I'll be 35 in July.......

Feel free to substitute "prom dress" for any other outfit that you want to fit in temporarily, like for a wedding or party. Otherwise, make your diet and training a lifelong change and give it time.

Someone has in their signature that "fitness is not a destination, it's a journey" meaning that fitness isn't a "Oh, I got here now I can stop" it's a long term commitment....

i know you guys are absolutely right! I'm just going to be in a bathing suit in front of about 20 people I know and am verrrrrrry nervous about it. My stomach is in bad shape from the c-sections. My scale doesn't bother me, its the belly bulge, and i'm thinking that I may have IBS. SO that doesn't help, bcuz i'm bloated alot.
I'm not going to give it up after the trip anyway, I just want a kick start since we didn't plan the trip very far in advance.
I ate sooooo bad today, every carb and dessert at my party, and seconds. I really screwed up.
I will start fresh tomorrow. I guess I will watch carbs again...should I watch fat somewhat also???
Thanks ladies!!!!!!!!

Just like w/ the carbs, you want to get the right amount of fat in there because it does have its place in your diet. But keep the source of those fats good, clean & basic. Almonds, natural pb (in small amounts because it also has carbs), flax seed oil are all excellent sources. The fats in fish & steak are also good.

thanks for posting all these food replacement suggestions.
I had no idea cheese was a no-no. I was told from books and such that cheese is good to eat during low-carb transition. So much for that....

The problem with cheese is that it's high calorie for such a small amount and it has saturated fat. Your body doesn't need any more saturated fat than you already get -- your body needs Mono & Poly unsaturated fats from nuts, olive oil, flax, etc....

Also when watching calories for 100 calories would you rather have this teeny tiny piece of cheese or some veggies dipped in hummus, or a handful of nuts, you can even make a homemade meatless chili (7 bean) that's low in calorie......I personally would rather eat more food for my buck....
