Yes this is bullshit.

Quest does many tests that are ordered by doctors. You may be next!

OK. Now that is scary. I didn't think about that. I haven't had blood work yet, but I was considering it soon... should we be worried about this? WTF about HIPAA and privacy?!?

isnt that illegal? Invasion of privacy or something? I mean i know its the feds and all but there has to be some guidelines in accordance to the constitution or some shit!

Im not up on all the details on the FEDs side of things. But I do know that where I am (Cali) many/most of the tests blood/urine that are requested by doctors are actually performed by Quest Labs. My last test (prostate check before getting propecia) was in fact a blood test that was done at Quest. Now they keep samples on hand long after the tests are done. So...

Why is that scary? Quest is a reputable company. They turned over their records as ordered by the court.

Whats scary is that the court can obtain individual information from an investigation that is not DIRECTLY linked to that individual (that is how I read the article). So, if you have your work done at a company like Quest, and the feds are investigating some OTHER individual your private records have a possability of being released.

Gee, so HIPAA isn't so effective after all. I think if I were in major league sports I'd reject outright having any testing done after this. I think a strike would have a significant impact on the overall pressure from this insanity.

If you are getting blood work or any work done with your insurance or your real info, you are probably gonna be upset. Just an example here. The police are trying to work it where they can get dna on you or me if we are arrested. They say they want it to run it against other dna that they have from previous crimes. They say once it is run, it will be destroyed.Yeah Right! I believe that. As we all know, the technology is evolving so rapidly that it will not be long before we will be able to tell what disease we are prone to get by simple blood work. It is coming and when it does, every life insurance company will pay huge amounts to have that info. See how difficult it will be to get health insurance when the company knows your chance of getting cancer etc... It is not a question of if but when this will take place. I have all of my stuff done discretely . I am private pay and it is expensive but the piece of mind is just that, piece of mind.

I wouldn't worry too much about this unless you're a MLB player.

Exactly. The only reason this is a big deal to the Feds, is because of the names involved. Why do you think that they only seized a few samples, and not like 100?? Maybe because these guys are more famous, and others would make most people say "who"? Anyhow, EVEN IF THESE GUYS WERE TAKING THG(or whatever it is called), it wasn't included on the Controlled Substances List at the time, so I don't see what LEGAL reprecussions could come out of it. I mean, they can accuse them of cheating, but that's about it. You can't convict a person Ex Post Facto. Personally, I could care less if any of them juiced. You still have to put the fat part of the bat on a little missle coming at you at 95mph. Steroids don't help you do that.

The IRS is frequently a tool used by federal enforcement to detain/arrest individuals that are hard to pin down with evidence on other crimes. Look to history for more on this (Mafia etc etc).

Is you are having blood drawn and it's sponsored by a job or in this case athletic association, most probably the players have signed a waiver that serves as a suspentions of confidentiality in terms of HIPPA. If you are getting blood work and no one is requiring it (IE: you authorize the test on your own merrit) the records are sealed except for you and your PCP.

The 4th amendment is the one Feds and CIA have to respect the most. If Barry Bonds lab results come back positive, he may be charged with purgery(lying under oath) I think the goverment needs to worry about the Iraq shit instead!

All "testosterone like substances" are included so that included THG even though the FED's had no idea it existed at the time.

That isn't true. If it were, then they wouldn't have gotten Pro-Hormones off the ground.

I thought it was a 19 nor test derivative. How is that testosterone like. That statement is kind of broad lol. They are going to go after these guys like Martha Stewart, because they lied to the grand jury.
