Ever wonder why some programs work and some do not?
Why does one work for you when another does not?
Ever try a program one year and it doesn't work yet you try it again the next year and it does?
Ever wonder why your program works for you yet not your workout partner?
Just my thoughts here...but I feel that the lifting program that works depends on many different factors besides the actual details of sets/reps/and exercises. Most workout programs work for you because it is the type of routine that you enjoy and like to do on a frequent basis.
Some people like to be able to flex their pumped muscles after doing a high rep set. Some like the way that a muscle burns for a few hours after doing high reps. Some like to do heavy singles, conserve energy, and walk funny the next day
.
Some people like to live in the gym so they set up a workout program that is on a 4/5/6 day split. Others need the time off so that it fires them up for another good workout.
I am a very opinionated person, even here on the board. I try not to take anything personal when someone is giving lifting advice...but it is hard for me to take the advice of someone who has not done what I have done. Experience...I have experienced tons of different routines, all of which gave me some sort of positive result. At this point in my training...I am finding out exactly what is going to make me stronger and more athletic.
I am not looking to weigh 230 and be fairly lean (already done that). I don't want to bench 4, I've done that. I'm not looking to see what is gonna make me leaner or have better peaks...I've done that. I'm in the search to find what is going to take me to the next level with my career in strongman.
My thoughts...take a program, learn from it. Realize exactly what it gave you and why. Note the benefits as well as all of the drawbacks. Learn from every single routine...till you make your own work for you. My routine is not someone elses...it is mine. What you read in an article...is just that...what you read. Listen, read, put into practice, listen, read, learn, improve.
