Legends of Wrestling game for PS2. Is it also available....

I have smackdown as well. You really can't compare them as far playability goes. Legends moves pretty slowly, you can combo some moves which is a novel idea. If I had to choose, I think I would go with Legends if for no other reason than you can have Bret Hart kick Hogans ass, or play as Brian Pillman for that matter.

Neither game lives up to its expectations in my opinion. I am hoping for a Legends II with some of the bugs ironed out.

In the mean time I am waiting for UFC.

Blasphemy.

Hmm, sucks that this game isn't as good as it could be, I was gonna bug my friend to buy it if he gets a PS2 for Xmas. He'll probably get Smackdown instead. Thing is, I've found all WWF games except WM 2000/No Mercy to be kinda fruity.

Correct.

Every wrestling game besides those blow in at least one major fashion.

The only problems with them, is the create a character isn't as savage.

ZEN: Can you change the color of the facial hair, and hair and stuff? And do they have some good varieties of facial hair, and haircuts?

Also... can you make their upper body bigger by itself? Or is it just an overall body size adjustment?

The game isn't available where I am yet to rent... so I'm bugging you for some of my questions. :D

I hear that one! There's one coming for the x and ps2. Different fighters in both games.

But then allow me to push the line and mention soul calibur 2 for the x. THAT I can't wait for.

Val, sorry I missed your response earlier.

You can change the color of the hair, color variations are limited however. I think the facial hair was ok as far as selection, but I thought the hair was pretty weak. Tough to make a decent Andre the Giant (who for obvious reasons should be in the game).

You can adjust size by body part including individual arms/legs if I remember correctly. Honestly haven't used the create a legend feature all that much. Hacked out an Andre and a Kamala and that was about it.

Move sets for created wrestlers are pretty extensive though.

Other problems with the game. The fan excitement feature isn't really all that great. If you follow a certain pattern you will always get decent fan excitement. Draw blood, use a weapon, combo a couple of moves, ref bump, etc.

Overall not the worst wrestling game I ever played, but certainly no Giant Gram 2000.

Thanks, Zen. I played Smackdown3... and it was pretty neat... I really liked the create a wrestler on that... but I don't really like the game play all that much. It plays more like a fighting game than a wrestling game.

I'm glad to hear about changing the arm size... that's a feature I've been waiting for for a very long time.

Thanks for the info.

Smackdown is really more of a fighting game. Legends is cool in that you can combo some moves. i.e Powerbomb to a pinning combo. Depends on who you have.

Plays much slower too. You push the strike button and it takes a second or two.

If you have any other questions, feel free.

Well... okay... if I have to...

Is there a good selection of double team moves?

Can you edit/change a current legend to be someone else? Or are they untouchable?

And I saw a screen shot where they were wrestling outside, with the ringposts in the concrete... can you select that location to wrestle in just a regular exhibition match?

And what about the list of finishers? Like... they can't have the "stunner" or "Rock Bottom" or "Snow Plow"... so do they have moves like them, that are just named different? Or are there not that many finishers to choose from?

Thanks again.

I wouldn't say there is a good selection of double team moves, but they are available (i.e. LOD's Doomsday Device). The tricky part with them is that if you are in a tag match the computer is controlling on guy and you have to hit a button at the same time as the computer controlled partner would also be "hitting the button" In the matches I have had, I have only pulled off one double team move (Double suplex).

You can edit Legends (give you more ability points).

Not sure on the rings. I know there are multiple ones, but I have never bothered to look at them.

They do have finishers, and a lot if I remember correctly. They have a version of the Stunner, not sure on the Rock Botton or the Snowplow, but if I was to guess I would say yes.

Val, if you really want to play the game, shoot me a PM, I can send you my copy for a couple of weeks.
