Leg curl

Sergeant

New member
Do any of you ever do leg curls? It seems to hit the lower hamstring for me which is not really used on the power lifts but I am afraid of an imbalance.

Leg Curls

I use the lying, standing or seated leg curl every once in a while when my lower back is fried. Typically, I use the heavy compound movements to work the hammies. (Stiff-legged Deads, Romanian Deads, Bent-Legged Pull-Throughs, Good-mornings, etc...)

i agree........ i always try to do something for them involving the lower back becuase they work together so well.

but when my low back says "no think you"......... i will do them occasionally.

like i mean i have done them once in 20 weeks!!!!

just my opinon

I actually do them 2 weeks on 2 off b/c I don't have a reverse hyper or anything similiar to it and i'm not really sure how to do stiff legged deadlifts or single legged squats/deadlifts. But they do hurt my lower back occasionally.

One leg work, Cubanito

Start with step ups, gradually adding depth. In no time you'll be doing one leg squats. Right now I am doing step ups that are just a little below parallel. By that when my leg is on the ground and my other leg is on the step it is at a little more than legal depth. I am doing bw(240)*8 on each leg fairly easily except for the balance issue. Not real coordinated. I will try adding weight soon. I have not really done 1 leg dls except for a few reps so I can't really give tips on those.
If you will check testosterone.net they have some good articles that you can find using their search function that show how to improvise reverse hypers.

I don't do leg curls at the moment, but would(some of the time) if I had the equipment. Glute ham raises would be my first choice after reverse hypers, but leg curls are about the best you can do at most gyms. You can also do pullthroughs, but I never got much out of them. But when I did them the only low pulley I could use was the bottom one on a cable crossover so it did not have enough weight.
