Ladies??? Loose skin???

Gotta question for the ladies.

I am helping my sister-in-law with diet plan. She has spent tons of money with every kind of weight loss physician out their.

Anyway, she finally asked for my help.

She is extremely overweight. I have her diet and exercise all worked out. There will be no drugs involved - including eca stacks. For at least the first 8-10 weeks - probably even longer if I can help it.

My question is: Loose skin. I know she will have tons of it. Is there some kind of cream or vitamins which can be rubbed on the areas to help tighten the skin as she goes or is she destined for a tummy tuck.

btw she is only 30 - so we are not dealing with an old ladies skin.

Thanks

Sadly, I don't think so. I have been both very over weight and pregnant so I have quite a bit of loose skin. My stomach is flat but not "taunt" because of the extra skin I have in that area.

Strong muscles underneath the loose skin really helps the appearance though..... :)

If there were a cream for this, we'd ALL know about it... But the elasticity of one's skin is genetic and also age-related. If she loses the weight really rapidly, there's a greater chance of slackness until the skin can tighten a bit. Good nutrition can't hurt, and cocoa butter can help soothe stretch marks, but there's no miracle cream.

How much weight does she need to lose?

It's cool you are going to help her.:fro:

She around 5'3" and probably 170 to 180 lbs. I haven't checked her actual stats yet. She was 120 in college - so quite a bit.

Yeah, she came to me a couple of weeks ago crying b/c she thinks that her husband (my brother) and the rest of her family is embarrased of her (which they are not) and everytime she tries to loose weight she ends up putting more weight back on.

So anyway, I guess it will be a challenge for me too. Surely I can do better than meridia.

Thanks for the replies ladies

when losing weight some skin may loose elasticity and so stretch marks appear... there are things that may help the skin during the loosing weight period such asa Multivitamin, Antioxidants ie. Q-10, Vitamin E and Vitamin C... be sure to include that in her daily intake. Creams may be helpful too, but be sure that she keeps her skin hydrated by taking plenty of water during the day.

hope this helps

All of the above is excellent advice. She can greatly reduce the severity of loose skin by losing weight gradually. Going slow will also improve her odds for maintaining her weight loss. Adding muscle will help too. Sometimes skin will appear loose at first and tighten up in time. If not, there's always the option of surgery, but that can come with scars. Being that she's only 30 and not losing a huge amount of weight, I don't think she should have a bad problem.
