kovacs?

for the last time......... kovacs does not make the claims....... that is done by muscle tech...... he doent say a word........... he just works out and they take pictures.

and by the way......... his arms have grown an inch.... they are 27 inch now........ at least according to the newest muscletech advertisedment in the latest FLEX

the same issue where they make fun of him and the way he looked at the night of champtions........ hehehe

Muscletech cannot make claims about him without his permission so it is his fault just as much as muscletech's. You don't really believe he is an innocent bystander that has no say in what muscletech prints about him.

I heard the next muscletech ad is going to brag that kovacs manhood has double in size because of their protein. WHO CARES! They say crap to sell goods. Hopefully their products are more legitimate then their claims.

In answer to the original question (How would Kovacs do if trained as a powerlifter?), the answer is, not very well. If he doesn't have the discipline to compete in bodybuilding, why would he be any different when competing in powerlifting? He'd show up, do a few mediocre lifts, and then leave before the finals b/c he'd already know he lost.

At the end of the day Kovacks is a bodybuilder, big, strong but he lacks quality. The shows require you to have size, cuts, stage presentation not what you can lift or how big your arms are that is just a bullshit ego thing.Frank zane, lee labrada,to name a few were all little guys but they were always in the top 3 anyway if you want leg size just look at Tom platzs!!

There's no way. The 2 sports require such different training. I have seen a few 700lb benches and a couple 1000lb squats -- these were from guys who are at the top of the game and have been at it for along time. There's just no way a mediocre bodybuilder would be able to touch those marks.

I hate to come across as sticking up for this dude, but......what does it matter how good a bodybuilder is, most powerlifters look lot like greg to me, huge waists and just plain huge!
just because he cant do weel in bodybuilding, does not mean he would never be able to touch those marks, the guy is a genetic freak, he was 230 lbs before he started lifting, i have seen photos where he must be around 400lbs, and to me, he looks very fucking strong....

Guys, last nite my cousin brought by a copy of "Greg Kovacs: Colossus." I must tell you, I was not impressed. Yes, he is big, but not 400# big. Yes, he is strong, but not any stronger than most other pro bodybuilders. For ex., he did 495 for about 5 reps on Smith machine incline. For comparison, Chris Cormier does that much on free-weight incline. Also, there is a growth on his shoulder that I can only attribute to Synthol. Yes, he may be genetically gifted, but I don't think he will ever amount to anything.

I may have counted the plates and/or reps wrong. However, I did not fail to notice that his spotter was doing a good bit of helping on more than a few reps. Also, yes he did have alot of weight on leg press. However, he did knee-unlocks with it, not full reps. Also, you notice he never got near a squat rack. As far as his Smith machine incline putting him near the top, I myself have seen a Masters Olympia contestant do 585 for reps on that exercise, and he is 46 or 47 years old.

Heavywear, I didn't realize Hoop was still lifting. I first saw him compete 10 years ago. And he was good back then too.

675 on incline, for 8 reps......i dont think there are any other bodybuilders out there doing that.
Do you think it is true then when muscle tech said he does 725 for 2-4 reps on the bench?
that seems a big increase there, but you said this video was 3 years old, BigPhysicsBastard???
