knees after squatting

bourgeois funk

New member
i always find that after squatting (usually the next day) my knees feel "funny". they don't hurt, there's absolutely no pain, but they feel weird (that's the only way i can put it!). i was just wondering if this is normal. i mean my form's not bad, i don't hink. ie, i squat back, my knees don't go past my toes, knees point outward as i go down.

how ARE one's knees supposed to feel after squatting? the same as if i hadn't squatted in the first place?

I think I may know what you mean....a funny feeling that's not pain but not quite right.

I had a problem with my patella a few years back & now sometimes my knee will hurt or feel weird when I exercise.

I use these velcro straps that you wrap around your knee to the knee cap won't move as much when you exercise. That may help.

how low are you squating??? theres more tension on the knees if you dont go below parallel...also check out low bar/PL squats-- wider stance- could help- & I hope your not squatting on the Smith-- thats absolute knee torture!!

MAY HELP IF YOU WARM UP YOUR KNEES WITH A COUPLE OF SETS OF LIGHT LEG EXT. ALSO HEALS DOWN AND FEET STRAIGHT FORWARD AND REALLY IMPORTANT STREATCH FOR AT LEAST TEN MIN AT THE END COUL BE TIGHT MUSCLES.

Just a thought - have you tried adding some box squats into your routine? The stop at the bottom might be enough to take the pressure off your knees and give you a moment to set for the upward movement. For me it seems to have added a lot more control for me at the bottom of the squat. In the past I've had problems where my knees just didn't feel strong enough to do a decent squat (instead of stopping after only a very short squat motion).
