Ok well a few things have been bothering me lately , and I wasn't going to say anything, but you know I changed my mind. I'm just going to put it out there and hope it doesn't come off harsh, ladies don't take offense, I'm not speaking directly to any one in particular, just in general, I've noticed a trend, and I'm sure a few others have to.

Ladies, it pisses me off when someone posts up a thread and asks for advice, and help, and then once it's been given and it's different from what they have been doing, then they say well "I know what works for me" and what I'm doing works for me.

Well if that were true then why are you wasting our time posting the question, since you already have the answer, and aren't going to use the information and help that you were given.

I think I'm going to hold back on my replies here alittle, just step back for abit.

Just needed to get this off my chest.

I posted a message similar to this on the Iron Angels Yahoo board. You are not the only one that feels this way.

I know you did girl :)

I thought it should be said here.

I hope you don't hold back on your replies.. I like reading them, and if the person you're talking to doesn't want to hear it, to hell with them! Us lurkers still do.. :)

In particular, I love where you yelled "NO DAMN COOKIES FOR YOU!" :lmao: Now I hear that being yelled in my mind when I'm eyeing up something sinfully delicious.

I LOVE YOU....

Now you know how I feel a LOT of the time on here these days

I deal with this EVERY DAY here at work as well, and when I make it out (if ever) to touch base with old friends....I have to hear it all again and how "i will not give up my social life or quit drinking...."

... The ladies in my office just started another FAD diet (which I didn't EVEN bother to ask WTF they were doing) ...and one of the just said... "well i will wait see if it works, the give it a try if you lose weight..."

HELLO DO YOU NOT SEE ME HERE?!?!?! Granted, they don't see my in my panties like y'all do, but it is driving me insane, and I am seriously going find a new line of work...I've Had it

*end rant for now*

Only Soklu replied, so I thought you guys thought I was being b*&^%. Well, if it isn't the "I know what I'm doing" replies, its the "I don't have time" replies that gets to me. As if, I wake up at 4:30 to have my pre-lifting meal, for fun.

Please don't feel that way......I love this board and I take any advice ANYONE here gives to me as golden...........by the way I have lost almost 8lbs together in 9 days so somethings working!!!!!

Your attitude, yearning to learn and educate yourself is praise enough...esp. when you think like I do about the priceless info on here

I hope that you continue to reply to questions that you think are worthwhile because I think you have great common-sense advice and knowledgable input! People that come to this board need to be willing to "experiment" a little - trying something different may yield unbelievable results! One just needs to be patient to allow those results to occur. No worthwhile changes will happen overnight. I have been weightlifting for over 10 years and I still learn something new everyday on these boards. ;)

I get this alot.. work, the gym, etc.

Sat down with a coworker for near an hour explaining diet... even went so simple with her. didn't get into Macro's etc. She wants to lose a few lbs and wants help.. so I give my input.. she's doing the training.

Diet comes up.. so I recommend that she tracks her intake for a week and let me look at it. LOL.. well I have to say, at least she was honest and didn't come up with a lame excuse.. her exact words are.. I'm to damn lazy to count my cals.

Then my reply was "Well M, get used to your fat rolls honey.. if you don't want to put in the effort and the time to find out whats going wrong, they will be with you for a long time... " Got a good chuckle out of me.. and thankfully she knows I am straighforward so she expected my reply and laughed too.

Human nature.

People look to be validated and by asking questions and hoping that other people will say the same thing as they are already doing or thinking is a way to do find that validation. I get this a lot in my business - people will hire me to tell them they have good taste - not because they really want to be assisted.

When you take the time to post something you are giving a part of yourself not to just the person that starts a thread -but those who are merely hiding in the wings, those that read but either doesn’t feel confident in responding or asking questions publicly just yet.

Nothing said will go to waste, except for abusive people that take up space - that's a waste but fortunately we have a fantastic bunch of ladies and a few men here on this board that makes this forum a breeding ground for hope, strength and knowledge.

My sister in law has asked me several times for "help on losing the tummy".

I take the time to explain and try to help her and then she goes "Well, I eat a package of cookies a day and I'm not willing to give that up". wtf!? :smash: lol..

Have I told you lately that I love you Vel :bigkiss:

Shadow, I certainly understand you. :)

Seashell, NO SINFULLY DELICIOUS DESSERTS FOR YOU!!!!:velvett:

I want to thank everyone who posted, like I said I needed to get this off my chest and put it out there, it's something I felt needed to be said.

Like velvett said, when I response to someone and offer advice, I'm giving you apart of me, I'm letting you know that I'm here for you, and I want you to succeed with your goals and I'll do my best to help. Of course I don't expect all advice that is given, to be taken. But just don't ask for help with something, and then just dismiss the advice, because you know what works for you if that's so then why are you asking for help, just keep doing what you're doing.

It makes me feel like your spitting in OUR faces.

But you're asking because you aren't seeing the results you want, and obviously what you "think" is working for you, is NOT!!!!

Maybe you should show up to the office in yer undies one day...they'll get it then. ;)

Word.

Annoys the crap outta me.

I understand it can be hard to hear criticism. Especially when you feel like you are trying your best.

But people need to remember that you NEVER stop learning. No matter how many years you are involved in fitness. There is ALWAYS something you can learn. I learn something EVERYDAY. Every single day I learn something I didn't know - a new exercise, a new idea of a routine, a new recipe, a new study, a new supplement, a new SOMETHING. You may know your body better than everyone - but that does NOT mean you stop learning.

Not only that, but several sets of eyes are better than one. The more input you get - the more alternatives you get, the more information you get, the more you learn, the more you get in your "bag of tricks". This is a GOOD thing.

Along with this .......... PULEEZE people, read the freakin' stickies. They are there for a reason. :)

lol, *blush* :) Tell him thank you. And thank YOU for being so sweet ....

DH ..... where did you pick that terminology up? Reason I ask, is because I only see it on the Knot/Nest - I am there when I am not here. :)

Great replies all!! And NO ONE is asking ANYONE to leave!!

Isn't there a saying about "Only a dummy expects different results from the same action" or something along those lines?? Not saying anyone is a dummy or anything, but if something isn't working, then why continue it??

Different sets of eye can greatly help!! Remember, fitness is a journey, not a destination.

what do u mean dg?

I've just never seen the term DH anywhere but a couple websites - especially not here. :) Just found it interesting, and a little out of context for me.

I frequent a couple other message boards, and those are the only places I have seen it. :)

dh=dear husband , I've always used that term. It's an oldy.
Is that what you meant?
Anyway, he totally doesn't think that's u in those before shots.

Yeah - again, just thought it was weird seeing it here. You don't know how many times I started to type it, but changed it bec I thought nobody would "get it" - and judging from the several PMs I got - people don't know it! :)

YEP - the pics are me, large and in charge! They are the pics my hubby took in our old apt. Most people here have seen the professional ones either in the magazines or on a company's internet site.

Even if some may not appreciate the advice, there are still a lot of us that do (especially us lurkers... :) ). I've been lifting for almost four years now, and for the last 1-2 years I've plateau'd.

I started Shadow's weight program three weeks ago and have noticed a huge difference already (thanks Shadow!). It's the first one that's really kicked my butt in a long time!

Your advice, along w/ inspiration from Daisy and Bunny (ya'll look great btw), have probably helped more people than you could know.

Those who ask for advice and then decide not to take it are the fools. Granted, they may be wasting your time in asking, but their question (and your answers) may help countless others. In the end, your advice never goes to waste.

Hellow Outwister and welcome!

Bump for props to Shadow yet again! And Daisy! And Bunny! And all the girls who keep this board vibrant and flowing with positive and fat-free, sugar-free love and support!

Glad you broke the silence :)

Excellent point and thank you by the way. :)

I think the general point was a frustration with asking for advice and then being damn set on not taking it - or taking offense when someone critiques their plan. I myself get very frustrated when I take the time to anser someone's post completely, then they come back and say "my diet is fine" - why the HELL did you ask for advice then?!?!? Make sense?

Additionally, we put together stickies to help lurkers, and newer people, so they can get basic Qs answered right off the bat. That way, they have enough info to start putting together a plan to critique. The stickies do NOT answer every Q, but they are an excellent place to START doing things for yourself.

Everyone needs help and input - and that is why we are here! :)
